Ben Shephard scolds co-star over blunder after Susanna fury over GMB 'errors'
Ben Shephard was left scolding Good Morning Britain star Laura Tobin on Friday morning after the meteorologist was missing from her segment.
The 41-year-old weather presenter was in Kew Gardens for the latest instalment of the ITV breakfast programme, while Ben and co-host Kate Garraway were in the main studio.
Yet partway through the programme the presenters tried to cut to Laura for the latest weather news only to abruptly return to the main studio as the star had ‘disappeared’.
Kate suddenly exclaimed as the live cameras returned to the ITV studio and she joked: “She got lost amongst the orchids.”
Ben then jokingly berated the star as he said: “She’s got one job, Laura. Was she stuck in the undergrowth?”
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesKate replied: “I don’t know, she’s been rummaging around. She does love Kew. She’s gone off for a forage. We’ll see if we can track her down.”
Ben then demanded of the studio: “Has anybody found her? Is she there?” before it seemed the producers of the show said something in his ear and he added: “Ok, so we’re going to go to Richard for the weather.”
The presenters then turned to Good Morning Britain’s entertainment reporter Richard Arnold in the studio and Ben said: “Richard, you’re going to pick us up with the weather.”
Richard then jokingly delivered: “We have warm front and damp patches as we look forward to this weekend’s television.”
Later in the programme, Laura explained she had been 'ready and waiting' to do her segment in Kew Gardens, but they were hit with a technical issue.
The slightly embarrassing broadcast blunder comes after Susanna Reid was reportedly far from happy and walked off the Good Morning Britain set after a number of gaffes ‘made the show look stupid’.
The presenter, 52, is thought to have taken aim at staff after their errors led to a number of on-screen errors.
She is said to have been furious at a number of issues on the show, including several spelling issues, such as the word ‘remembering’ being spelt incorrectly during a story about a death.
Other instances include the wrong date being shown on screen and also the name of a news correspondent appearing incorrect on a report about the war in Ukraine; Ben Chapman was incorrectly labelled Ben Champan.
Speaking to The Sun, a source said: "She [Susanna] made her feelings very clear, angrily shouting that the mistakes made her and the whole show look stupid — as she stormed off camera and confronted production staff."
Richard 'shuts up' GMB guest who says Hancock 'deserved' being called 'd***head'According to insiders, Susanna has felt more responsibility to ensure the standards of the show don't slip following the exit of her former co-presenter Piers Morgan in 2021.
It's said that her latest outburst has led to bosses sending emails out to staff members.
