'Nightmare neighbour screams constantly - my revenge will cost her £800'

A fed-up woman got incredibly petty revenge on her neighbour after suffering constant noise disturbance.

It's no secret that nightmare neighbours can make life miserable for all those around them. And the situation can be made much much worse when the walls separating the house are incredibly thin. That was the reality facing one resident, who didn't hold back in her response.

Writing on Reddit, the anonymous resident revealed she lives in a duplex with a shared wall. She wrote: "The neighbour that moved in is constantly screaming and berating her kids every single day at the top of her lungs."

Her dad went over to speak to the neighbour, and she did apologise. But the woman decided to message their property management about insulating the walls because of the noise - "and I guess they told her".

The neighbour then proceeded to be loud on purpose. "The walls are super thin, so I heard her entire conversation with the property manager calling my dad all kinds of names and then hanging up to tell her cousin what she was going to do in retaliation," she shared.

"Here's the revenge. She obviously doesn't understand how thin the walls are or doesn't care. I heard her yelling on the phone with a former property management place and she apparently caused some damage to the tune of $1000 [£781].

"She blocked their number, but from the conversation I was able to look up their contact information and sent them the necessary info to follow up with her in case they need to file a suit."

She concluded: "Good luck paying your rent. She already complains about money and no one helping her out (I wonder why)."

The Reddit community were quick to comment - and a huge number offered up their own noisy neighbour solution.

"If you have a subwoofer, tape it to the wall and play music with heavy base," one suggested. "Don't plug in the speakers. Just the woofer. It will make anything she has hanging in the walls vibrate."

A second person said: "My ex-boyfriend did this to noisy neighbors. He put on an hours-long loop of train horns, construction noises, explosions, etc. He turned it all the way up and went to work. They were quiet after that."

And a third person admitted: "I shared a wall with a uni flat mate who was fairly vocal when his girlfriend was over. Took to playing the Benny Hill theme tune for them any time they were together. After a week or two they started meeting at her place instead. Our flat had barely any internet at the time so I literally had nothing better to do!"
