There are countless crazy cooking hacks out there, but this one might be the weirdest.

We've all seen the wave of people ditching ovens for air fryers, but have you ever thought about using your dishwasher to cook food? It's not something that would cross any of our minds normally, but it's the method Angie Matthews had to use when her house move meant she had no other options in her kitchen.

The 53-year-old woman explained she was mid-way through moving to a new house and only had a dishwasher left in her kitchen. She went on Google to see if there was anything she could make for dinner and found recipes on how to cook salmon fillets in the dishwasher - so thought she'd give it a go.

Angie, from Telford, Shropshire, accompanied her salmon with potatoes and peas, but admitted she got her neighbour's help to cook those and only did the salmon itself in the dishwasher. She said: "It was more of a test to see if it would work. I was stressed at the time and I felt like making myself laugh a little bit.

"I wrapped it twice in foil first. My dishwasher was set to intensive because I forgot to turn that button off, so it was way overcooked by the time I took it out. But it was still absolutely fine and I did eat it! I wasn't really expecting it to work, if I did it again I'd use a shorter cycle. But I was surprised it worked. It wasn't inedible in the end!

"It was more of an experiment - I've got myself an air fryer now and I've fallen in love with it. But I wouldn't rule out using the dishwasher again if I had to!"

The woman tried the unusual cooking method in February last year, and shared it online last week after realising others might find her story funny - which they did. One person said: "If you close your eyes it looks lovely," while another jokingly added: "Please send me the recipe."

Speaking about sharing her post online, Angie said: "The comments are hilarious - it's cheered me up a lot! If there's one thing I've learnt in life is to laugh at myself - there's no point in being too serious is there?"
