Spring is in the air - and our shopping bags

The weekend is (almost) upon us and with some much needed rest and relaxation planned into our Saturday and Sunday, the fashion lovers amongst us will probably have some time etched out to browse our favourite shops and indulge in some retail therapy - But online because no-one's idea of fun is battling with the snaking and lengthy shopping queues on a busy Saturday morning.

With online sales aplenty and spring collections launching from a variety of top brands on the high street, from Marks & Spencer, River Island, Karen Millen and Dunelm, there's so much we're eyeing up this weekend to help us give our wardrobe, home and beauty routine a bit of a seasonal refresh.

If you are in the same boat and are in need of some inspiration, each week The Mirror's Fashion and Beauty team pull together a round up of our top picks from the high street, and for this edition of Weekend Wishlist, we've found some seriously cool designer-inspired bags, celeb-approved outfits, and stunning pieces that we predict will soon sell out.

From Amanda Holden's white and black tailored suit to Dunelm's super spring-y bedding, here’s what we're sticking in our shopping basket this weekend...

We can always count on Amanda Holden to give us some series wardrobe envy and the outfits in which she presented her radio show on HeartFM this week were no different - including a gorgeous black and white two-piece suit that was both 'classy' and 'funky'.

The Compact Stretch Contrast Tipped Tailored Double Breasted Blazer and matching Compact Stretch Contrast Tipped Wide Leg Trousers - which features a racer-stripe style piping down each seam - are both currently on sale for £111.20 and £135.85 respectively and available in sizes six to 16.

The Karen Millen suit is effortlessly chic while skimming and flattering your figure thanks to its colouring and statement details. While the jacket is black all over, it features an elegant thick white piping on the edge of its lapels, which gives it a timeless but unique finish, and is double breasted.

Sharing the outfit on her Instagram story, as she so often does, Amanda - who wore the suit with a top from Victoria Beckham (her Body Strap Bandeau Top In Black) and pair of trainers from Toteme - said about the "cool" suit: "I just feel kinda of cool and Kelly Hoppenish [a famous South African-British interior designer]."

Lisa Snowdon's 'Barbie Girl' River Island skirt

Weekend wishlist: From the celeb-favourite face cream to Lisa Snowdon's skirtLisa Snowdon looks amazing in this all-pink ensemble (Instagram/@lisa_snowdon)

With National Barbie Day falling on Saturday, March 9, we only thought it right to include a garment that is so unbelievably 'Barbie' - and this skirt from River Island (that comes with a matching shacket) fits the bill perfectly.

Worn by Lisa Snowden, who donned an all-pink ensemble earlier in the week, the Pink Textured Pencil Midi Skirt from River Island, £50, is truly a spring-piece of dreams thanks to its fun texture and slit at the front.

While the jacket is unfortunately sold out, the skirt is still available in sizes six to 18 and can be paired with long-sleeve tops or t-shirts and also comes in a cream version. If you're looking for a piece that screams Barbiecore - a trend that is clearly going nowhere in 2024 - there’s no better time to add this lovely spring style to your wardrobe.

Weekend wishlist: From the celeb-favourite face cream to Lisa Snowdon's skirtThis lovely Fiorelli bag comes in six different colours

We LOVE finding a bag that reminds us of a more expensive designer piece and this £59 leopard print cross body bag by Fiorelli is a gorgeous alternative to Ganni's £110 version. Crafted from premium faux-leather, the boxy 'camera-style silhouette' and standout leopard print is great for elevating any outfit - plus it's roomy enough to hold all your essentials like your phone, wallet, keys and of course, favourite lippy.

It's also got an adjustable webbing strap which lends a sporty feel and is super comfortable. Inside you'll find an interior zip and slip compartments to keep your more precious items organised and safe.

Weekend wishlist: From the celeb-favourite face cream to Lisa Snowdon's skirtThis chartreuse blazer dress is a lovely statement piece that adds a bit of fun into your wardrobe (PrettyLittleThing)

Adding a bit of spice into your regular blazer dress, this new piece from PLT's latest collaboration with influencer and model Wolfie Cindy is a fun take on the classic-styled dress and features a pleated skirt detail that pokes out from underneath the asymmetric dress's blazer-design.

Coming in a bright chartreuse colour, the dress is a lovely addition for spring and is still available in all sizes - four to 16. Although, we suspect not for long as it's one of the site's 'most wanted' pieces.

Weekend wishlist: From the celeb-favourite face cream to Lisa Snowdon's skirtThis stunning £100 Mango trench coat was shared by Frankie Bridge and it is perfect for spring (Frankie Bridge LTK)

You can't go wrong in springtime with a gorgeous trench coat that not only leaves you looking phenomenal, sophisticated and well put-together, but also keeps you warm when the breeze is a bit too chilly for a denim jacket. Worn by Loose Women's Frankie Bridge in her latest Frankie's Faves round up, the oversized trench coat in light beige is available on ASOS for £100 and features a lovely notch collar that makes the coat look super elegant as does the layered back.

Fastened with dark tortoise shell buttons, which are a lovely contrast to the pale colour, the coat also comes with a belt to cinch in the waist while the pockets to make it lovely and practical.

A trench coat, such as this, is a timeless wardrobe staple that instantly elevates an outfit.

Weekend wishlist: From the celeb-favourite face cream to Lisa Snowdon's skirtThis tan bag from the high street store is a gorgeous accessory for spring and summer and a resembles a more expensive Gucci alternative (River Island)

River Island has recently launched a selection of handbags that are a lovely addition to any spring wardrobe but one thing we've noticed is that there are several designs that we believe look vaguely familiar and resemble a few designer brands, such as this Brown Bucket Cross Body Bag that is the perfect alternative to Gucci's Ophidia mini leather and canvas jacquard bucket bag, which costs over £1000 more. Costing £35, this River Island bag comes in three shades - tan, green and pink - and features two handles, a longer cross body bag for easy wearing and a plaited shorter handle. Keeping your belongings safe, the bag has a drawstring fastening in a contrasting striped pattern, which makes the bag look chic and elegant.

We're all loving the co-ord look at the moment, whether it's a waist coat and tailored trousers or a cotton-blend tee and skirt, like this set from Marks & Spencer, which we think is a gorgeous duo to take into the warmer season.

Consisting of a Cotton Blend Midaxi Skirt, £29.50, and Cotton Blend Crew Neck Top, £25, the knit-style co-ord is elegant, stylish and sophisticated - not to mention cosy thanks to its cotton-blend.
