BBC Radio 1 has announced two brand new presenters in a huge shake up.

Lauren Layfield and Shanequa Paris are taking over its Life Hacks show, replacing Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton, who hosted the Sunday show since 2017. Listeners will tune into the weekly show and podcast with the Lauren, 36 and Shanequa, 29, as they discuss a host of issues that affect young people. Both presenters will take over the show from April 7 and will present it from Salford, Manchester. Fans of Vick and Katie will be pleased to know that they will now be joining Jamie Laing on Going Home.

The former Made In Chelsea star, who also hosts his own podcast with his wife Sophie Habboo, has replaced Jordan North, who is set to take over from Roman Kemp on Capital Breakfast. Speaking of her new venture Lauren said: "I'm absolutely over-the-moon to officially be joining the BBC Radio 1 family. I've listened and loved Radio 1 since I was a teenager and it's a total privilege to join the ranks."

She added: "Life Hacks is such an iconic show discussing everything from health to careers to relationships; as a journalist one of my favourite things to do is talk to people about their own stories and I know the Radio 1 listeners are so wonderfully willing to share. I can't wait to head up the chat!"

Shanequa presented CBBC's news programme, Newsround, where she reported on a series of topical issues including the Black Lives Matter movement and the Covid-19 pandemic. Shanequa added: "I can't believe I get to join the most fabulous station, on a show that's even more fabulous and speaks to so many people on a personal level. Life Hacks is that show to hold your hand and give you that hug when you need it! Sunday is the next Friday. We've got you covered hunny!"

The Head of BBC Radio One, Aled Haydn Jones, said: "I'm so excited to welcome Lauren and Shanequa, two brilliant journalists and youth broadcasters, to Radio One. Life Hacks is such an important show in Radio One's schedule, which delivers invaluable content that only the BBC can achieve. I can't wait to hear what Lauren and Shanequa bring to the show!"

The broadcaster also announced that Matt Edmondson and former Saturdays singer Mollie King, who currently present Matt and Mollie on Friday through to Sunday, will now host their show on weekday afternoons. The pair have hosted the Weekend Breakfast since 2018 but from July, will take over the 1pm until 4pm slot during Monday to Thursday.

Speaking of her new slot Mollie said: "I can't wait to spend more time with them and my best bud, Matt, during the week." And Matt continued: "I feel really lucky to be taking on this new show with my best friend, and I have no doubt that we will continue to champion amazing music, be ridiculously competitive and laugh uncontrollably."

Last month, it was announced that Jamie had replaced Jordan on his drivetime show but fans were not pleased. In a desperate bid to win over listeners who slammed the broadcaster for creating a "posh boys club", wrote a heartfelt statement.

He said at the time: “Guys, firstly I’m beyond excited to be joining the amazing Vick Hope on BBC Radio 1's drivetime show. Jordan North is a complete pro/legend, he's left some really big shoes to fill so I’m going to do my absolute best to do him and the show justice, and to be working alongside the insane Vick Hope is amazing."

He added:"I’ve always loved music and radio and grew up a Radio 1 fan, so to be joining the BBC Radio 1 family officially feels unreal. Lot's of you may know I'm never happier than when in front of the 1 mic, chatting to people, sharing stories, having fun and to continue that on drive time is going to be wild in the best way. I will pour everything I have into making it the best show I possibly can for the listeners who love it so much. now, let's go!! Radio 1 baby! Jamie."
