Paul Gascoigne’s adopted son makes desperate appeal as partner battles incurable brain tumour

A fundraising page has been established after Jaimee was offered the opportunity to participate in a clinical trial at a hospital in Ohio involving a new drug for patients with tumours like hers.

She needs to secure the money within one month to have what she described as a realistic prospect of completing the trial.

Jaimee revealed that she had been diagnosed with an IDH1-mutant, CNS WHO grade four astrocytoma, turning her family’s life upside down.

"My whole life changed when I was diagnosed with an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer," she wrote.

"I’ve undergone major brain surgery to remove as much of the tumour as possible, and now I’m going through radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment.

"Unfortunately, with this type of cancer, even after the standard treatment the tumour will progress and no one can predict how quickly. The median survival ate is about five years."

Jaimee said her overriding motivation was securing additional time with Teddy.

"More than anything, I desperately want more time with my little boy," she continued.

"Being Teddy’s mummy is my whole reason for existence. And I’m not ready to say goodbye."

Although Jaimee accepts that the treatment cannot cure her cancer, the clinical trial has provided what she called a "glimmer of hope".

"I need to watch my son’s smiles and laughter on more Christmas mornings," she said.

"To be there for more birthdays, and to watch him become the young man I’ve always imagined."

She urged people who could not contribute financially to share the appeal, adding: "One share could put my story in front of somebody who can help."

The fundraiser has already reached approximately half its target, with £145,000 donated in the space of several days.

Mason thanked supporters while pleading for the campaign to be shared as widely as possible.

"We’re trying to achieve this goal so we can have the time we deserve with her and she has the time she deserves with her five-year-old boy," he said.

"I know times are hard but we appreciate it, even if it’s a pound."

Mason later revealed that the response had transformed Jaimee’s outlook during an unimaginably difficult period.

"It’s given her this hope and this belief, and this community she never knew was there for her," he explained.

"It’s been beautiful to see her face light up just watching it happen."

Mason is Sheryl Gascoigne’s son from her first marriage to Colin Kyle. He and his sister Bianca were adopted by former England star Paul following his marriage to Sheryl in 1996.

Mason and Jaimee welcomed Teddy in March 2021, making Gascoigne a grandfather for the first time. Bianca later welcomed daughter Blake Sunshine in February 2023.
