Sergio Reguilon has lauded Thomas Frank's man-management skills following reports that the Brentford head coach is under consideration for the Manchester United job.

The Dane, 50, has been at the helm in west London for just shy of five-and-a-half years and has managed to establish the Bees in the Premier League after winning promotion from the Championship via the play-offs back in 2021.

Frank's stock has endured even though Brentford are fighting to preserve their top-flight status this term and he continues to be linked with other Premier League clubs. He has already been touted as a potential successor to Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, and it's now been claimed Frank is on a three-man shortlist to replace Erik ten Hag.

Reguilon knows both men well after spending the first half of the season on loan at Old Trafford. He's only been at Brentford for a matter of weeks after sealing another temporary move in January, but he has only positive things to say about Frank.

He told The Times: "Thomas is a very honest person. I love the way he talks to everyone, to you, the players. I love him. He told me, ‘It’s a win-win. We love you, we need you and at the same time you need a manager who trusts you, believes in you, puts you on the pitch every weekend. It’s a moment in your career you need that stability'. I was thinking that myself. I could go to a team with more amazing names but it would not be the same.”

He added: “He showed me clips and said, ‘I know you are a top player and I also know you are emotional. It’s just one game. You made mistakes but every player does'. It means a lot. Two words can change everything.”

While plenty of coaches have been linked with Manchester United in recent weeks, it's still unclear whether or not Ten Hag will continue in his role next season. The Dutchman's fate will be decided by new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is now in control of sporting operations after acquiring a 27.7 per cent stake in the club.

The Ineos chief has so far failed to endorse Ten Hag publicly and it's expected the Dutchman will be moved on if United fail to qualify for the Champions League. He insisted recently, though, that he did not fear for his job.

He explained: "I'm under contract for three seasons, so I don't care. I am in this process, I'm only focusing on the process, so I don't care what's going on around me.

"I have many talks with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, also with Sir Dave Brailsford and others in that group, so I know where we are talking about and I have a strong belief and I feel that they believe in me."
