Tommy Fury has suggested a face-off with Jake Paul can wait until fight week in Saudi Arabia this month.

Fury and Paul are set to finally touch gloves in Saudi Arabia on February 26 after agreeing a deal to settle their bitter rivalry. The pair have already come face-to-face in a heated altercation in the ring moments before Artur Beterbiev's win over Anthony Yarde in London last weekend.

On social media, Paul decided to renew his clash of verbal barbs by suggesting that the British star is deliberately avoiding a repeat of their confrontation. He tweeted: " Tommy Fury is scared. Told my team he can’t make the kick-off press conference next week in Saudi Arabia because he needs more time to train.

"Thought you said you wouldn’t even have to train to fight me? You and your papa [John Fury] are scared." Fury then issued a bold response, replying: "The press conference can wait until I get to Saudi Arabia you fool. I’ll be there on the 16th. 3 weeks and it’s over you big stiff sweaty goth."

Paul then had the final say, concluding: "Show a little respect for our hosts you blighter. Saudi Arabia I will see you this coming week inshallah." Fury has come face-to-face with Paul on three occasions since their rivalry began, when the pair clashed backstage after Paul's points win over Tyron Woodley in 2021.

A fight was agreed between the pair for later that year before Fury was forced to withdraw with a broken rib. The bitter foes then decided to renew an agreement for August last year but again the former Love Islander was unable to compete after being banned from travelling to the US.

Another heated dispute broke out between the pair at Fury's exhibition win over Rolly Lambert in November which set up negotiations for the fight to finally be arranged at a third time of asking. Despite being confident of a KO win, Fury has vowed not to under-estimate his rival and wants to step up and deliver a career-best performance.

“100 per cent, yeah. I’m still four weeks out, but I’m training the hardest I’ve ever trained," Fury said during an interview with Queensberry Promotions. Serious business. It’s the biggest of my life, of my career, but it’s not the toughest test. I’m having tougher tests daily in the gym with proper world-class fighters. You’ve got to treat it as it is.

"But I’ll tell you honestly, man-to-man I’ve trained for this like I’m preparing to fight for the WBC title of the world. It’s a fight that’s — it’s not like, a learning fight, like, ‘Yeah, I’m taking this fight and it’s a time for me to get better and practice things.’ I don’t like this man, and I will be looking to KO him in emphatic style. I’m training as hard as I’ve ever trained before."
