Michael Gambon's wife has inherited his huge fortune after the actor reportedly left his sons and girlfriend "with nothing".

The 82-year-old, famed for his role as Dumbledore in Harry Potter, died in September last year after suffering from pneumonia. Michael married mathematician Lady Anne - with whom he shares son, Fergus - in 1962, when he was 22, and the couple remained wedded until his death. But in 2002, the Layer Cake star revealed he was in a relationship with set designer Philippa Hart - 25 years his junior.

After his will was published on Tuesday (5 March), it was revealed Michael's long-term girlfriend Philippa, with whom he shares teenage children Tom, 17 and William, 15, had been left "nothing".

Michael reportedly drew up his will in 2016 and listed his wife and their 60-year-old son Fergus as executors. The actor had made arrangements for all of his £1,465,882 fortune to be left to his son, in the event that his wife died before him.

The star's children with Hart received £10,000 each and a trophy according to the will. Both were left a silver heart Variety Club of Great Britain stage actor award. The eldest was left with one awarded in 1987 while the youngest received a trophy given in 2000, according to the three-page document seen by the Daily Mail.

Speaking to the publication, Ms Hart declined to say if she was aware she had been left out of the will. Commenting from her home in Kent, she said: "It's none of my business. I really don't want to talk about this." Fergus also declined to comment when approached by the outlet, saying of his mother: "She won't want to speak to you."

Michael did not keep his relationship with Philippa secret and just a year after meeting he was introducing his companion, who is two years younger than his son Fergus, to co-stars including Maggie Smith and Charles Dance. Anne seemingly accepted the relationship, and for years Michael split his time between the £5 million mansion he shared with Lady Gambon in Gravesend, Kent, and a property in West London where Philippa and the couple’s teenage sons Tom and Will now live.

It appears the actor, who became a father to his final child aged 68, was thrilled to be an older dad. Actress Hetty Baynes, who starred opposite the thespian in Casual Vacancy told The Mail: "Michael was never happier than when his boys were on the set. They were so sweet and you can see he absolutely adores them. But I’m sure they run him ragged. Having a child in later life can be an exhausting thing, but it brings so much joy."

The Mirror has contacted Michael's reps for comment on this story.
