How Michael Gambon died as wife shares Harry Potter star's health battle
Sir Michael Gambon has died peacefully in hospital aged 82 following a bout of pneumonia, his family have confirmed in a statement.
The Irish actor, best known for playing Harry Potter's Professor Albus Dumbledore in the movie series, passed away peacefully in hospital with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Lady Gambon and their son Fergus.
The statement shared how Michael had been suffering from "a bout of pneumonia" before his death, his publicist Clair Dobbs revealed on behalf of his "devastated" family. The statement ended with a request that the public respects "our privacy at this painful time" as as well as note of thanks for the "messages of support and love."
The full statement issued by publicist Clair Dobbs, said: "We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon.
"Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia. Michael was 82.

The renowned actor leaves behind an incredibly legacy, having enjoyed a six-decade-long career in the entertainment industry.
Michael retired from theatre in 2021 after suffering from memory loss, admitting that the experience of learning lines had become "frightening."
