Katherine Ryan has shared her uncertainty surrounding her marriage, admitting she can't predict how long it will last.

The comedian, 40, is candid about her relationship with husband Bobby Kootstra, who she shares daughter Fenna, one, and son Fred, two, with. She recently revealed the couple no longer sleep in the same bed as they both share rooms with their young children.

Katherine has since explained that while she is happy with Bobby, she doesn't know how long it will last. "We've only been married five years, but 50 years? I don't know," she revealed. "Everyone’s happy after the first five whereas I’m more about, ‘Can we make it to 20 years and 40 years and 50 years?’"

However, the comedian insisted: "It’s easy to love him — look how fit he is," she told The Sun. Discussing their sleeping situation on the five-part W series Katherine Ryan: Parental Guidance, Bobby shared that the four of them had tried sleeping in the same room previously.

He told viewers that Fenna and Fred kept waking each other up, which led to him and Katherine being in separate rooms with each child. Katherine shared: "We're both co-sleeping with someone. Bobby sleeps with Fred because I'm sleeping with Fenna. It's really good for the children to have that." She added that she gets up with Fenna earlier than Bobby and Fred do.

"The priority in the morning is pumping [to express breast milk]," Katherine added. "We have a nice little routine the girls and then the boys come down and it all goes crazy." Bobby said: "Katherine and I co-sleep. I like to call it 'man-to-man defence'. We did try to have everyone in the same room but the babies were kind of waking each other up, so we had to switch to separate rooms, which is a bit better but also I do kind of miss sleeping with my sexy wife."

"It's probably not been great for our intimacy," he confessed. "So we kind of are missing a couple of different important connections I think for any relationship really." Katherine told him in a scene: "I miss sleeping with you, I do." Bobby suggested that their sleeping arrangement will remain for two more years unless they have more children. He added: "Who knows what will happen. I may be dead."

Katherine is in a civil partnership with Bobby, more than 20 years since they split as teens. They first broke up because Bobby wanted to focus on his sporting career as he played American football when they were together in high school. They bumped into one another at a pub after two decades in Canada.

Katherine, who is also mum to teenage daughter Violet, spoke about her rekindled romance on The One Show as she explained: “Bobby, I loved him. He was the quarterback of the American football team at our school and we went to prom together. We split up because he needed to concentrate on football and I was devastated.

“Then 20 years later I randomly saw him in a pub in Canada and I just loved… I’ve always loved him. It sounds silly to say but since telling our story people have got in touch and said, ‘I’ve always loved my high school partner.’ I feel like your life when it’s ahead of you makes very little sense. It’s a mystery. But when you look at it in reverse you had intuition about things."
