The BBC has decided not to renew All That Glitters

The BBC has decided not to renew talent show All That Glitters for a third series.

The show had been hosted by comedian Katherine Ryan, 39, and featured up-and-coming jewellers who competed to prove they were the next big name in the industry.

The contestants were tasked with designing and creating jewellery to brief in each episode, including producing a mass market piece as well as a bespoke item for a client.

All That Glitters had launched in 2021 and its first series averaged 2.3 million viewers across its six episodes. It later returned for a second series, which had aired last year.

It was however reported earlier this morning (April 7) that the show will not be returning for a third series, with the BBC having since confirmed the news to the Mirror.

The latest episode of the show - which was filmed in a specially built workshop in the historic Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham - to have aired was the second series' final.

The episode - which was broadcast in October last year - saw the finalists take on assignments such as creating a necklace for Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas.

Ahead of the second series last year, host Katherine said she was "delighted" to be back on the show. She said at the time: "The first series was a total joy to be a part of".

Discussing the BBC show previously, Katherine stated: "Jewellery making is so visual and satisfying to watch, but it's the jewellers themselves that make the show unmissable."

And she had further commented : "They're all so warm and different, and they all have uniquely compelling personalities and stories that they bring into their craft."

The first series featured jewellery designers Shaun Leane and Solange Azagury-Partridge as judges. Shaun returned for the second series, joined by new judge Dinny Hall.

Commenting on the craft, designer Dinny said whilst promoting the show: "A successful jewellery designer needs to imagine then execute their ideas, hone their craftsmanship abilities as well as design ethos, and lastly know their market."
