An obvious trick that has eluded scores of natural peanut butter consumers can prevent an oily mess from ruining their lunch —and it's as easy as flipping the jar upside down.

PureWow, a digital media company that typically publishes content related to women lifestyle, asserted that storing your jar of organic peanut butter upside down is the best option. Consumers have long been used to the pool of oil that sits on the top of any natural peanut butter jar, which can leave a slimy blob on their sandwich.

Flipping the jar in the cabinet lets the oil properly merge with the rest of the product, ensuring a delicious PB sandwich can be enjoyed without fearing that you'll end up with a mouth full of grease.

This trick offers an alternative to the typical solution most consumers know too well: endless churning with a spoon until the oil has fully mixed with the peanut butter. This is still risky as PB lovers might have to toss out a big scoop of the product because the oil still wasn't mixed in.

It's also smart to store the jar in the refrigerator upside down. PB in the fridge may sound odd, but there's a method to the madness. The cool temperature will solidify the oil enough to where it isn't so runny; plus, the product will be creamier and easier to mix with pretty much anything you wish to pair it with.

Reddit user DrToastyy aired out gripes with organic peanut butter on the app last June, calling it "disgusting." Users who responded to the forum found out that Toastyy was unaware that one was required to mix the oil into the product so it's "not too thin to be spread across the bread," which was one of the Redditer's top issues.

Fellow users offered words of advice for the PB enthusiast, which coincided with the advice from PureWow. One, called GrahamCrackerDragon, advised Toastyy to not mix with a spoon but a knife, which offers less resistance and more reach. The user also echoed the lifestyle publications advise to refrigerate the organic PB after mixing.

As more people weighed in on the forum, the topic took a slight turn. Users began defending organic PB after reading some comments denouncing the product, claiming mainstream brands like Jif were superior.

"The non-100% peanut one has shortening (not great for your health) for texture and then because that tastes bad, there is sugar added, which is another ingredient that we should cut back," they said. "Not a big deal when you consume a bit on the occasional toast but I consider a small step in an overall healthy diet to cut back on unnecessary sugar."
