Diablo 4 is set to arrive on Xbox Game Pass later this month – here's everything you need to know about the launch.

We're deep into Diablo 4 Season 3, but Blizzard still has some surprises up it's sleeve ahead of the season ending on April 16, 2024. However, the biggest news as of late is that Diablo 4 is going to be a part of the Xbox Game Pass March games – which was confirmed by Xbox president Sarah Bond last month.

This is especially surprising considering the Activision Blizzard president Mike Ybarra said this would not happen back in July of 2023. But lo and behold, Diablo 4 is the first Activision Blizzard game to arrive on Xbox Game Pass following the Microsoft Activision deal in which Microsoft bought Activision-Blizzard-King for almost $70billion.

Back when the buyout went through in October, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said that players shouldn't expect titles from the newly acquired publisher to arrive on Xbox Game Pass anytime soon; this was due to uncertainty that the deal would even go through in the first place. So unlike Bethesda games – which arrived on Xbox Game Pass almost immediately after Microsoft bought Bethesda – there weren't plans in place for Activision games on game pass. Until now that is.

Diablo 4 on Xbox Game Pass: release date

The Diablo 4 Xbox Game Pass release date is set for Thursday, March 28, which is when the game will become available on Xbox Game Pass for subscribers on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Considering Diablo 4 is now owned by Microsoft, we'd expect the game to remain on Xbox Game Pass for as long as Xbox Game Pass continues to exist, so don't feel the need to rush to play it if you're already too busy with 2024's stacked release schedule, you'll have time for Diablo down the line.

Diablo 4 on Xbox Game Pass: what's included

Considering most games on Xbox Game Pass just come with the standard edition, we'd expect the same fate for Diablo 4 on Xbox Game Pass. We may find out more when the the official Xbox blog announces the Xbox Game Pass batch with Diablo 4 included, but if we had to guess, it'll be the standard edition of the game with no extra bells and whistles for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
