FA Cup quarter-final draw live as Liverpool and Man Utd discover possible ties

Four clubs have already booked their place in the quarter-finals of this season's FA Cup prior to Wednesday night's draw, and they will get to discover their fate prior to the final half of this round's matches.

Holders Manchester City, their Premier League rivals Newcastle United,. and Leicester City and Coventry City of the Championship are all already in the final eight after victories earlier this week, and the line-up will be completed come the final throes of Wednesday's action.

Pep Guardiola's side look in ominous form and are a strong bet to successfully defend their trophy this season following a 6-2 win at Luton in which Erling Haaland scored five goals. Meanwhile Newcastle prevailed on penalties against Blackburn, Leicester caused a minor shock beating Premier League Bournemouth 1-0 after extra-time and Coventry thrashed minnows Maidstone United 5-0 on Monday.

The quarter-final line-up will be complete after the matches between Chelsea and Leeds at Stamford Bridge, Nottingham Forest's clash with Manchester United at the City Ground, Wolves against Brighton elsewhere in the Midlands at Molineux and Carabao Cup winners Liverpool's home meeting with Southampton.

All of those clubs will know who they could meet in the quarter-finals as they kick off, and stay with for the draw as it happens from 7pm.

Moments away

We're moments away from the start of the draw now!

Leicester staying focused on Championship

Leicester won the cup in 2021, though Foxes boss Enzo Maresca has hinted his side's focus is on promotion from the Championship.

“The important thing is QPR on Saturday,” he said after the fifth round win over Bournemouth. "This is the most important thing. There’s no time to enjoy. Now it’s already time to think about QPR so, on the way back, we’re going to start preparing for the game on Saturday.

“It’s always nice. I’ve said many times, we would like to have the same environment at home but tonight was fantastic. During the week to travel from Leicester to here is a long trip and thanks to all of them.”

Klopp issues Liverpool warning

Jurgen Klopp has warned his Liverpool side against being overconfident as they face Southampton for a place in the quarter-finals.

"Everybody says it’s Liverpool against Southampton. Liverpool is a massive favourite and whatever people say anyway [that’s] not too important. But that’s not the case. We need to find a team who is competitive and then we will fight for it," he said.

"Obviously we all got a really good taste of how Wembley feels on a day like this. We had all different experiences there. We lost there, we won there so it’s a nice stadium anyway, but when you win it’s a completely different place."

How the draw will work

The draw will take place at 7pm ahead of Chelsea's tie against Leeds.

Broadcaster Seema Jaswal will host, while Arsenal legend David Seaman will pull the balls out of the hat.

The quarter-finals will then take place across the weekend of 16 March.

City keep quiet on draw preference

Coventry City are the lowest ranked side left in the competition, though hat-trick hero Ellis Simms is keeping quiet on the team he wants to face in the next round.

“I do not really have a preference. Nobody particularly," he said.

“We know there is only top teams left in the competition, so we know whoever we get, it is going to be a difficult game. We just have to wait and see and hopefully we can prepare right for that game and progress again.”
