House in Stockport priced at £110,000 but comes with a warning

A three-bed house for sale in Stockport with a lower-than-average price tag has come on the market - but there is a catch.

The semi-detached house in Romiley, a village home to four conservation areas with pretty surroundings, is up for grabs at an auction with a £110,000 guide price. According to Zoopla, the average price in the area is £312,690 for a semi-detached home.

The house sits in a good, central location close to the village centre with easy access to train and bus routes. It has a hallway, two reception rooms, a kitchen and lean-to on the ground floor, and three bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.

Outside there is a front garden and driveway, a garage and to the back, there is a good-sized garden. But, as the images clearly show, the semi-detached is in serious need of structural work and a full refurbishment.

Images show the current state of the home with holes in the floor, some windows which have collapsed and its garden is overgrown. The property will be sold as is with any items, fixtures and fittings remaining.

Advertising the property, which is set to go to auction on March 26, Pugh Auctions explained: "The property has suffered from damage primarily to the rear with the collapse of bay windows to the ground and first floors. A contractor has attended the property and propped the floors and roof and boarded the rear. We are advised that the Fire Service have turned off all utilities."

The auction house then issued a warning to prospective buyers: "You must be aware that there is currently an Emergency Prohibition Order under Section 43 of the Housing Act 2004 on the property prohibiting occupation for living or sleeping until it has been repaired fully and to regulations.

Due to the works required, the property is currently non-mortgageable." Bidding for this Romiley home begins on Tuesday, March 26 and ends on Wednesday, March 27. The lot will not be sold before the auction.
