A man has sparked a debate after sharing how he wants to break up with his girlfriend because she stopped shaving her body hair - despite knowing he finds it unattractive. The 25-year-old said that he has been with his partner for almost two years and that he had no problem with her up until she recently decided to let the hair in her armpits and on her legs grow.

He said he doesn't mind stubble or even a little bit of growth, but drew the line at hair growth where it was looking the same as his own legs and armpits. He said early on in their relationship they had a conversation about their likes and dislikes so they knew they were compatible. But the 23-year-old woman watched a TikTok video about body positivity and this is the reason she gave to her boyfriend when he asked why she was doing it.

Writing on Reddit, the man said he doesn't expect her to shave daily, but: "It’s extremely long and not taken care of, and I cannot be forced to like it lol. I did not straight up told her I was going to break up with her, this was after multiple attempts of me trying to ask her about it and saying I was not attracted to it.

"I tried to like it, but I can’t. It doesn’t look good. I finally told her straight up that I don’t find it attractive. She didn’t like that, and said she doesn’t want me to be like 'one of those men'. I told her if she doesn’t shave I’m going to break up since I don’t find her attractive because of this. Let’s just say she got extremely p****d off, that I’m never gonna find a woman that shaves daily for me."

Some other users of the site said they thought that his gripe meant that they were simply not compatible as a couple as people change and move on over time and he should consider that, while others said he had no right to expect her to shave to please him. One person wrote: "Not the a*****e. You two are growing up and maturing, so you both will change. Time to move on. You’ll find someone who shaves, and she’ll find someone who accepts her for who she is. Good luck to you both."

And another said: "I don't see it as threatening, it's giving her a heads-up, he doesn't find it attractive at all, and it's a deal breaker for him. Nothing wrong with that. There would also be nothing wrong with her saying it's a deal breaker for her to shave. It just means they aren't compatible."

While a third complained that: "If he thinks he’s going to find a woman to spend his life with who shaves 100 percent of the time, he won’t ever succeed. What happens when his wife is pregnant and can’t reach her legs anymore? When she’s so tired from caring for a baby that she doesn’t have time? What about when she’s sick? Or having mental health struggles? He is treating his girlfriend and future women he wants to be with as dolls who are expected to cater to his preferences despite the fact that they their own people."
