TV star Jesse Baird and boyfriend found dead after blood and bullet discovered
The bodies of missing Australian TV presenter Jesse Baird, 26, and his boyfriend Luke Davies have been found.
Mr Baird's ex-partner - serving police officer and former celebrity blogger Beaumont Lamarre-Condon - had previously been charged with their murders but had not co-operated with the investigation. But detectives say he today revealed the locations of the remains.
The pair were found dead in a property in the town of Bungonia, four hours south of Sydney, Australia. New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb announced: "We are very confident that we have located Luke and Jesse."
Police say the corpses had been partly hidden under rocks and debris. Two surf bags were also located that were allegedly used to transport the victims' bodies.
Search teams including divers had been scouring the rural area around Bungonia for days, but identified a new potential crime scene over the weekend. Police began focussing their search on the Bungonia property after discovering that Mr Lamarre-Condon had visited it in the white van believed to be carrying Baird and Davies' bodies with an acquaintance last Wednesday.
TV presenter Jesse Baird dies at 26 policeman charged with murderPolice have said, Mr Lamarre-Condon severed a lock on a gate, then left the female acquaintance there before driving the van on to the property and returning 30 minutes later.
Earlier this month, a search was launched for Channel Ten star Baird and his boyfriend Davies when blood and a bullet casing were found at their home. Lamarre-Condon - who joined the police force in 2019 - quickly became the target of the detectives' manhunt. Before becoming an officer, Lamarre-Condon was a celeb blogger who had met stars including , and .
Detectives believe the couple were killed on February 19 inside Baird's house in Paddington, an inner Sydney suburb, before their bodies were moved in a white van. New South Wales Police said a bullet matching Lamarre-Condon's work-issued gun was found at the crime scene and he did not turn up to work on February 20. Lamarre-Condon was named a person of interest in the case after the investigators learned that he once dated Baird.
Last week, police also seized blood-stained clothes, a phone and credit cards from an industrial bin in Cronulla, 17 miles away from the crime scene, and a number of items from a house.
The news has sent shockwaves through , with Det Supt Daniel Doherty confirming last week that police had been hunting a white van and that the vehicle was finally located on Friday morning. He also confirmed that it will be claimed in court the van was used to “transport the bodies and dispose of the bodies”.
Lamarre-Condon appeared before a court and didn’t apply for bail. His case has been adjourned until April 23 with police citing a need to have time to prepare evidence. Outside court last week, Lamarre-Condon's lawyer didn’t answer questions.
Baird had been a presenter and red carpet reporter on Network 10's morning show Studio 10 until the programme was axed in December, 2023. His boyfriend Mr Davies was a flight attendant for airline Qantas. There are several photos of the happy couple on their respective social media pages which have been flooded with messages of condolences since their disappearance.
