A TV host in Australia broke down in tears on Sunday as she remembered her colleague, Jesse Baird.

The Channel 10 star, 26, is at the centre of a tragic murder case alongside his partner, Luke Davies. Last week in Sydney, New South Wales, blood and a bullet casing were found at their home. Jesse's ex-boyfriend and serving police officer Beaumont Lamarre-Condon has been charged with their murder in news which has sent shockwaves through the country.

Over the past few days, Jesse and Luke's friends have been paying tribute to the couple, including on Channel 10, where Jesse had worked for the past seven years. On Sunday, Sarah Harris, who worked with the TV star on the show, Studio 10, was left in tears when speaking about him on air.

While speaking on The Project, she said: "It’s been a really hard week for a lot of us here at Ten across at the network." Beginning to cry, she continued: "It’s hard to even talk about Jesse in the past tense because he was more than just a colleague, he was our friend … a little brother."

Explaining how Jesse had "lit up not only the screen but a room" with his "big beautiful smile", she added: "He was an absolute star and was quick on his feet whether it be feeding crocs or water skiing, he did it all." Sarah went on to describe how 2024 was meant to be Jesse's year, saying he was looking forward to starting a new job soon. She also revealed he'd told her his boyfriend Luke was "the one".

"He was in love and my heart just aches, not only for Luke’s family but also Jesse’s family. His mum, sister, brother and grandmother, who he was very close with," she said. Addressing his family directly, Sarah then spoke to the camera with tears in her eyes, sharing: "To Jesse’s family. You need to know he spoke about you often and with so much love and we are just all so so sorry."

Detectives believe Jesse and Luke were killed on Monday, 19 February, inside the TV star's house in Paddington, an inner Sydney suburb, before their bodies were moved in a white van. New South Wales Police said a bullet matching Lamarre-Condon's work-issued gun was found at the crime scene and he did not turn up to work on Tuesday.

Police have also seized blood-stained clothes, a phone and credit cards from an industrial bin in Cronulla, 28km (17 miles) away from the crime scene, as well as a number of items from a house in Balmain. It was first reported on Thursday that police were looking into a theory that Jesse was being stalked by an ex after he vanished with his partner.
