Jesse Baird's housemate has claimed he unwittingly slept in the same house as the dead bodies of the TV star and his partner, Luke Davies.

The Australian TV presenter, 26, is believed to have been murdered with Luke after their bodies were found in Bugonia, four hours from Sydney, Australia. Jesse's ex, policeman Beau Lamarre-Condon, is accused of killing the couple at the star's home before allegedly hiding their bodies under rocks and debris.

Opening up about the tragedy, which has sent shockwaves through Australia, Jesse's housemates said they returned home to the property in Paddington, Sydney, to find it in a dishevelled state. They saw a red stain in the backyard, but reportedly believed Jesse had simply spilled a bottle of beetroot juice.

The stain is believed to have been blood coming from a blue tarpaulin that was covering the couple's bodies. The housemates went to sleep that night with the corpses reportedly still in the backyard, according to 7 News.

On Tuesday, police confirmed they had discovered what was said to be the remains of the couple. The corpses are said to have been partly hidden under rocks and two surf bags were also located that were allegedly used to transport the victims' bodies.

As detectives try and piece together what happened on the fateful night, a new report claims that Jesse told his friends he woke up to see a shadowy figure standing at the end of his bed last year. However, it's claimed that Jesse didn't report this incident to the police. 9 News reports that Dave Hudson, New South Wales Police Force Assistant Commissioner, believes that Jesse and Lamarre-Condon were dating then.

He said: "There has been activity reported at that house which, in hindsight, appears suspicious, however at that stage in August last year, my understanding is they were still in some form of a relationship."

Police had been searching for Jesse and Luke, who the TV star said was "the one", since Monday after gunshots were heard at Jesse's home in Sydney. Moments later, Hudson claims there was a frantic, final call made from Jesse's phone. He said: "I can indicate on Monday, four minutes after the first shots were fired there was a Triple Zero call made from Jesse's phone, however, it disconnected," before adding he wouldn't speculate on who could have made the call.

New South Wales Police allege that Lamarre-Condon transported Jesse and Luke's body to the property in Bungonia in a white van. They also said a bullet matching the cop's work-issued gun was found at the crime scene and he did not turn up to work on February 20. Lamarre-Condon was named a person of interest in the case after the investigators learned that he once dated Baird.

Last week, police also seized blood-stained clothes, a phone and credit cards from an industrial bin in Cronulla, 17 miles away from the crime scene, and a number of items from a house. Police believe that an acquaintance of Lamarre-Condon, colleague Renee Fortuna, helped him with driving the 185km from Paddington, as well as purchasing an angle grinder. It was emphasised this week that there is no evidence to suggest Fortuna knew of Lamarre-Condon’s alleged crimes nor was she involved in any criminal act.

Hudson said: "We believe that the acquaintance assisted the accused in purchasing an angle grinder and padlock from a local hardware store in that area. The angle grinder was used to sever a padlock from the gate of that particular rural property." On Friday, Lamarre-Condon handed himself in at a Bondi police station after he became the target of a manhunt.
