Jesse Baird saw a figure standing at the end of his bed six months ago.

A new update has emerged after the bodies of the Australian television presenter, 26, and his boyfriend, flight attendant Luke Davies, were found. Baird's ex-partner - serving police officer and former celebrity blogger Beaumont Lamarre-Condon - had previously been charged with their murders but had not co-operated with the investigation.

Yesterday (February 27), police confirmed that they had discovered what was said to be the remains of the couple found at a property in Bungonia, four hours south of Sydney. Police say the corpses had been partly hidden under rocks and debris. Two surf bags were also located that were allegedly used to transport the victims' bodies.

A new report claims that Jesse told his friends that last year, he woke up to see what is said to be a shadowy figure standing at the end of his bed. However, it's claimed that Jesse didn't report this incident to the police. 9 News reports that Dave Hudson, New South Wales Police Force Assistant Commissioner believes that Jesse and Lamarre-Condon were dating then.

He said: "There has been activity reported at that house which, in hindsight, appears suspicious, however at that stage in August last year, my understanding is they were still in some form of a relationship." Police had been searching for Baird and Davies since Monday after gunshots were heard at Jesse's home in the suburbs of Sydney.

Moments later, Hudson claims that there was a desperate last call made from Jesse's phone. He said: "I can indicate on Monday, four minutes after the first shots were fired there was a Triple Zero call made from Jesse's phone, however, it disconnected," before adding he wouldn't speculate on who could have made the call.

New South Wales Police alleged that Lamarre-Condon transported Jesse and Luke's body to the property in Bungonia in a white van. They also said a bullet matching Lamarre-Condon's work-issued gun was found at the crime scene and he did not turn up to work on February 20. Lamarre-Condon was named a person of interest in the case after the investigators learned that he once dated Baird.

Last week, police also seized blood-stained clothes, a phone and credit cards from an industrial bin in Cronulla, 17 miles away from the crime scene, and a number of items from a house. Police believe that an acquaintance of Lamarre-Condon, colleague Renee Fortuna, helped him with driving the 185km, as well as purchasing an angle grinder.

Hudson said: "We believe that that acquaintance assisted the accused in purchasing an angle grinder and padlock from a local hardware store in that area. The angle grinder was used to sever a padlock from the gate of that particular rural property and subsequently, that padlock was replaced with a padlock purchased from the hardware store." On Friday, Lamarre-Condon handed himself in at a Bondi police station after he became the target of the detectives' manhunt.

Lamarre-Condon appeared before a court and didn't apply for bail. His case has been adjourned until April 23 with police citing a need to have time to prepare evidence. Outside court last week, Lamarre-Condon's lawyer didn’t answer questions. Baird had been a presenter and red carpet reporter on Network 10's morning show Studio 10 until the programme was axed in December 2023.
