Ovens can get grimy very quickly and when they do, it can be almost impossible to get it looking as good as new again.

It can feel as though you've drawn the short straw when it's your turn to clean the oven, simply because of how much elbow grease it takes. You're scrubbing and scrubbing and scrubbing but nothing is happening - but Mrs Hinch fans have shared that there's another way to banish the stains.

When one member of the Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips group on Facebook posted a picture of their super stained oven writing: "Keen on getting this clean. What products should I use?", people were keen to share their recommendations.

Some people suggested the more traditional methods including Oven Pride and Pink Stuff products - but many fans of online cleaning sensation Sophie Hinchliffe suggested a little-known hack of using a dishwasher tablet.

One woman penned: "Use a dishwasher tablet on the glass with hot water I did this and it came up like new. Wear rubber gloves though." Dishwasher tablets can be purchased from Morrisons for just £1.99, which works out at 5p for one tablet, meaning it's a bargain method. She went on to say that her oven used to be grimy, but it took her "10 minutes" to get it looking as good as new.

She explained her method, by typing: "I dip it in so it's wet, then I rub it about and it kind of dissolves and I add more water but just a little bit so it makes like a paste. I use like the little rectangle powder ones, not a liquid one. Hope that makes sense. I own a cleaning company and find it the best way."

And if your oven racks need cleaning, she posted more advice, saying she would "soak them overnight in the bag with a towel under it on the draining board next to the sink, or even soak them for a few hours if you can't do overnight."

Other people were also fans of using a dishwasher tablet, with someone saying: "Rub a cheap dishwasher tablet in with a drop of water and leave for a bit. Might have to do a couple of times but it works." Another agreed: "A dishwasher tablet, I did mine last night and couldn't believe that it actually worked. Looks as good as new."
