Antiques Roadshow fans demand new appraisal for impressive NFL treasures
Antiques Roadshow viewers are calling for a new appraisal as guest brings out Kansas City Chiefs NFL treasures ahead of this year's Super Bowl win.
During the LSU Rural Life Museum episode, guests from Louisana brought out their most prized possessions to see what their treasured antiques are worth. And one guests' 1962 - 1966 Stewart “Smokey” Stover collection caught viewers attention as he brought out a number of vintage NFL-AFL merch out for the event ahead of the Kansas City Chief's 2024 Super Bowl win.
Stewart Stover's son came on to the reality TV series showcasing some of this father's award-winning memorabilia after his impressive run as a fullback and professional football linebacker for the team. During the appearance, he brought out a 1962 Houston Texans AFL ring, a 1966 Kansas City Chiefs AFL ring, and a great game-used jersey with "Stover" on the back.

Joe Burrow backs Patrick Mahomes after Kansas City Chiefs reach Super BowlThe guest explained: "Smokey Stover is my father and we've been wanting to figure out what we had and decided to come on the Roadshow." He continued: "We've grown up with all the stories, all the players used to come by the house and just sit and talk and just being a little guy and hearing all of these stories was pretty amazing. We had a really good life."
After taking a closer look at the antique pieces he brought on, appraiser Leila Dunbar gave her expert opinion on the value. She shared that the estimated insurance value for the 1962 Houston Texans AFL ring would be around $30,000, the value of the 1966 Kansas City Chiefs AFL ring would also be an estimated $30,000, and the jersey would be around $40,000. And while these are astounding numbers, fans were curious if they have increased even more now that the Chiefs have won the Super Bowl.
One Antiques Roadshow fan took to X, formerly Twitter, and wrote: "@LeilaDunbar If only you had know who won the #superbowl this year....would that make the shirt worth more now?" Another sweetly posted: "Go Kansas City!! Go Smoky Stover! Go Leila!" And ahead of the appraisal, others brought up Kansas City Chief's star Travis Kelce's girlfriend Taylor Swift with one fan joking: "Oh look Taylor Swift’s boyfriends football team is on." And another Swiftie added: "Oh god, if anyone complains about Taylor i will block you #antiquesroadshow."
