Fans have leapt to Alison Hammond's defence after some viewers were quick to cruelly tweet about the loveable This Morning star's appearance on Michael McIntyre's Big Show on Saturday evening.

The 48 year old was shocked as the comedian, 47, turned up fully suited while she was in bed to become the "Unexpected Star Star of the Show" after her son had rung the show to give her a surprise in the middle of the night. Queue utter madness as she was joined by pal Rusty Lee, leaving fans in tears of laughter. She was later left dumbfounded when a divider was put up in the middle of her mattress as she was asked to guess who was under the sheets with her, only to find out it was Jason Donovan.

Yet, some snarky viewers couldn't help but bitterly comment about how Alison was "everywhere" on TV, with one cruelly commenting: "Ugh I see Alison overused Hammond is on this bloody show tonight, she's like Japanese knotweed." But a fan hit back, pointing out: "Jealous comment." In response, they replied: "Of Alison Hammond? Um no, I'm just sick of seeing her on absolutely [everything] and putting on that awful forced cackle."
