Deadline day is officially underway, with there now just hours remaining for EFL clubs to get those last bits of business done before the end of the January month.

It has been a hectic end to this year's window and many clubs across all three divisions are still scrambling to make the signing that could be the difference between now and the end of the season.

Clubs have until 11pm tonight to complete their transfer business before the window slams shut until the summer.

With that in mind, here is the deadline day EFL transfer notebook along with analysis from our EFL72 team. You can also sign-up to our daily EFL newsletter below.

Leicester's Dewsbury-Hall stance

Leicester have made it clear that they are not open to selling star man Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall before the end of the window. A report from Football Insider claims the Foxes would be looking for a 'huge offer' if they were to allow the midfielder to depart the King Power Stadium.

A host of Premier League clubs, including the likes of Brighton, Arsenal and Brentford were all said to be interested in the 25-year-old, with the Seagulls believed to have submitted a bid worth around £30m.

Sources now say that a departure for Dewsbury-Hall is highly unlikely in this window, with the player said to be keen to help his side return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

EFL72 says:“Leicester have struggled in this window but will be delighted to see their key man staying put for the rest of the season. Dewsbury-Hall is one of the leading players in the Championship at the moment and will be expecting a return to the top flight with the Foxes this season. Whether he moves on then is a different question but you'd expect a high fee."

Atalanta far off James valuation

Birmingham midfielder Jordan James is currently unlikely to join Serie A side Atalanta this month, after it was revealed that the Italian club were yet to meet the Blues' valuation. According to , Atalanta are currently €3m off Birmingham's current valuation of €10m (around £8.5m) - with the Italian club said to be willing to only go as high as €7m.

It is also believed that if the Serie A side have any chance of completing a deal for the 19-year-old this month, then they will need pressure to be applied from both sides, including the player himself.

EFL72 says:“ Atalanta have been keen on James all window and have already seen several bids rejected, with Birmingham standing firm on their valuation. The Blues won't want to lose him, especially given the time available to bring in a suitable replacement - so they may struggle to get this one done unless the player pushes something through."

Leeds clear on Cooper exit

Leeds captain Liam Cooper is said to be of interest to fellow Championship side Blackburn on deadline day, as per a report by TeamTALK. The 32-year-old is into his tenth season at Elland Road and is currently their longest serving player - but has a contract set to expire at the end of the season.

However, after already experiencing several defensive departures this month, manager Daniel Farke has made it clear that he would not like to see Cooper leave in this window. Rovers are set to offer Leeds a loan deal with a view to signing him permanently in the summer - but the German has reiterated his stance on not letting any more players go in January.

Cooper himself has also made it clear that he would like to stay at Elland Road and fight for his place as the club chase promotion back to the Premier League.

EFL72 says:“ Cooper has been a stalwart at Leeds over the past decade and would be another defensive blow should he make the move away from Elland Road on deadline day. However, it seems this deal has more interest from Blackburn's end and would be a real surprise if it went through."

Browne in surprise Preston exit link

Preston captain Alan Browne has been linked with a surprise move to Italy, according to reports. Sky Italia claim that Serie A side Salernitana have made their interest clear in the Irishman with the clubs said to be in talks over a move.

Browne is out of contract at the end of the season having made nearly 400 appearances for Preston since 2014 and manager Ryan Lowe has made his stance known on the current situation.

Speaking at his press conference prior to the club's trip to Millwall last week, he said: "Nobody will leave this month, because we need all the players we have to collect as many points as we possibly can."

Blackburn in USA talks

Blackburn are in talks to sign Orlando City forward Duncan McGuire. Sky Sports report that the 22-year-old has departed his side's training camp in Mexico to fly over the North West to see if a deal can be finalised.

McGuire scored 13 goals in 29 MLS appearances last season and has been the subject of interest to several other EFL clubs.

Derby agree Cardiff deal

Derby are set to secure the services of Cardiff midfielder Ebou Adams, according to a report from Football Insider. Paul Warne has been eager to improve his options in midfield this month, with the club said to have beaten several rival League One clubs to a loan deal for the Gambian international.
