Moment 'new Ronnie Pickering' shoves woman and drives over her on scooter

The bizarre moment a "new Ronnie Pickering" pushed a woman to ground before racing over her on his mobility scooter has been caught on camera.

The unidentified rider also pinned another man against a barrier next to a main road during the expletive-laden bust-up in Hull, East Yorkshire, on Tuesday. The clip shows the aggressor screaming at the pair "get the f*** out of my town" as he knocks the woman to the ground before grabbing the man by his hoodie.

As he reaches for the man, his scooter drives forwards, striking the lady and leaving her sprawled across the pavement. The vehicle then begins driving over her but comes to a stop against the barriers alongside the busy road. And while she is trapped under the wheels, the rider continues physically lashing out at the other man.

The footage starts with the woman angrily shouting at the scooter rider and she continues to speak into her phone even as she's knocked over. The other man - wearing a white tracksuit and cap - whimpers "yes" as he appears to be punched in the face by the attacker. Blood can be seen running from a cut above his eye and a split lip.

A second clip, shot from a bus shows records the passengers cheering as the woman is driven over and another person tries to help the situation. One bus passenger can be heard saying: "Nice one, baldy!" A third video, which allegedly took place prior to the attack, shows the man in the tracksuit rowing with a bus driver before throwing a liquid at him through the door. A voice also claims he spat at the driver.

The woman is seen in the middle of the road in front of the bus, shouting into her phone. Someone in the clip from inside the bus compares the scooter rider with Ronnie Pickering, a Hull resident who got into an argument with a moped rider and went viral in 2015. The then-57-year-old told the fellow motorist from his car "do you know who I am", before adding: "I am Ronnie Pickering." The person said: "This is our hero not that dafty Pickering.' A third added: "We don't want toe rags in our town and we politely ask them to leave. Respect."

Humberside Police told the Mirror: "We are aware of video footage circulating online showing an altercation between a man on a mobility scooter and a number of pedestrians on Anlaby Road in Hull yesterday, Tuesday 30 January. Investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the altercation and to identify the man on the mobility scooter. Anyone with information that may assist is asked to please get in touch via our non-emergency 101 line quoting log 299 of 31 January."

On September 21, 2015, Pickering, from Bransholme, got into a road rage spat with a moped rider close to Bransholme Fire Station in Noddle Hill Way. Heated words were exchanged but, after a while, he moved on and got on with his day. But little did Ronnie know, he was being filmed on a GoPro and hours later he would become a YouTube sensation after the footage was uploaded by Steve Middleton.

Speaking about the incident in 2022, he said: "I had no idea it was being filmed and the first I knew was when a friend texted me and told me it was on YouTube. It then got picked up by the likes of UNILAD and it then became one of the country’s best known YouTube videos.

"I think that along with the original YouTube upload and all the other follow-ups and memes, the video has probably had 100m views. It is a bit crazy to think how many people have seen it. It seems to have inspired a lot more road rage videos since. There seems to have been a lot more since then.”
