Selena Gomez has candidly reflected on the changes that her body has gone through as she has grown up with a throwback bikini snap.

The Only Murders in the Building starlet, 31, took to social media this week to share an old photo of herself donning a bikini. In the snap, she looked a lot different from how she does today, with the singer and actress highlighting this fact.

"Today I realised I will never look like this again..." Selena penned over the top of the throwback bikini snap. She then shared a more up-to-date bikini snap and wrote: "I'm not perfect, but I am proud to be who I am.... sometimes I forget it's okay to be me."

Reacting to Selena's recent social media post, fans have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to praise the star. One person said: "Selena Gomez has the most beautiful grown woman body I’ve ever seen and it’s heartbreaking to see people still hating on her when she has a disease that makes her weight fluctuate all the time." Another added: "Selena Gomez you are perfect either way."

Selena has often faced body-shamers, with the hitmaker even opening up on this topic last year in a TikTok Live when she spoke about her experience of taking medication for lupus, the autoimmune disease she suffers.

Last February she candidly said: "I tend to hold a lot of water weight and that happens very normally, and then when I’m off it I tend to kind of lose weight. I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what [you’re] going through, [when] nobody knows the real story… you’re beautiful and you’re wonderful."

Selena, who shot to fame as a child star on Barney & Friends, has been living with lupus, an autoimmune disease, for more than a decade. In an October 2015 cover story with Billboard, Selena revealed her lupus diagnosis and how she was diagnosed in 2013.

Speaking to the publication at the time, she said: "I was diagnosed with lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy. That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke." And then in 2017 Selena received a kidney transplant from her friend, How I Met Your Father actress, Francia Raisa.
