Arsenal's Premier League title challenge has stalled in recent weeks, with Mikel Arteta's side only winning one of their last five games.

Their poor run of form has seen the Gunners slip down the table to fourth, five points behind league leaders Liverpool, and Arsenal's failure to be clinical in front of goal has fans crying out for them to sign a new striker in the January transfer window.

However, they have yet to make any new signings this month and their bumper spending spree over the summer, which saw Arsenal spend almost £200million on Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber, means they do not have much money to play with. Here are some of the latest news and rumours coming out of the Emirates.

Edu working on outgoings

Arsenal have been in Dubai for a warm-weather training camp during their winter break, but have now returned to the UK ahead of their game against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

However, sporting director Edu flew back from Dubai early with football.london reporting that the Brazilian is 'open to doing business' in the transfer market. However, the report notes that outgoings are more likely than incomings at this stage.

Defender Cedric Soares is said to be attracting interest from clubs in Spain and Turkey, while midfielder Mohamed Elneny could also be on his way out. However, Elneny is currently away with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations which could scupper a potential move.

Arsenal enter Olise race

According to talkSPORT, Arsenal are among the top Premier League clubs interested in signing Crystal Palace star Michael Olise next summer.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with the former Reading star and would be willing to include ex-Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a deal for Olise. However, the 22-year-old does have a release clause that will become active at the end of the season which is understood to be around the £60m mark.

And the report states that the clause's presence in Olise's newly signed contract has 'alerted' the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea, who could be tempted to rival United for his signature.

Benzema verdict

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit believes the club should steer clear of signing veteran striker Karim Benzema this month.

The former Real Madrid star is said to be unhappy in Saudi Arabia and keen on a return to Europe, which has prompted links with Arsenal given their recent struggles in front of goal. However, Petit thinks the Gunners should look elsewhere for a new striker, telling Compare.bet:"What’s the price for Benzema? Do you have any idea how much Benzema will be earning in Saudi? I don’t think any English club will be able to offer him the same amount of money.

"It’s Benzema’s choice if he comes back but after winning everything with Real Madrid and being 34 years old, I don’t think he will want to come to the Premier League, it’s so physical, it’s so mentally hard, it’s not La Liga, with all the respect for him, he played for probably the biggest club in the world with great success, but it’s not the Premier League. I’m not confident Arsenal should go to Benzema, they should go for someone else."
