Josef Fritzl's only friend in prison is cannibal who cooks him wiener schnitzel
Evil monster Josef Fritzl's only friend in prison is a cannibal who cooks him wiener schnitzel, his lawyer claims.
The 88-year-old was jailed for life in 2009 after admitting to keeping his daughter Elisabeth locked in an a cellar as his sex slave for 24 years. He may soon be released to a nursing home - and reportedly suffers from dementia - after he was deemed harmless by court psychiatrist Heidi Kastner in a 28-page report.
Fritzl's lawyer Astrid Wagner even claimed she wouldn't be afraid to live with her client herself as he has no sex drive. She went on to say he keeps himself isolated from others, and only speaks to her and his friend Alfred U, a cannibal murderer jailed for life in 2019 for dismembering a Hungarian prostitute and making goulash from her body parts.
Ms Wagner - who also represented Alfred U - told German newspaper Bild: "Fritzl is completely harmless today. I wouldn't be afraid to move into a shared apartment with him or live in a home with him. He has no sex drive anymore. He barricades himself in his solitary cell, watches a lot of TV, grows tomatoes, writes about his life as an electrical engineer. He sunbathes through the bars, does gymnastics, cares a lot about his figure and wants to live to be 100."
The lawyer described how the cannibal makes Fritzl wiener schnitzel, a thin breaded cutlet of veal that is fried in a pan. She said Fritzl is not mentally fit enough to continue serving time in prison and should be moved to a nursing home.
Baby boy has spent his life in hospital as doctors are 'scared' to discharge him"He lives in a dream world and says that his daughter will soon marry Boris Becker. And that he was a guest on the TV show 'Schlagerkarussell'. His brain is degrading, like an old computer whose programs are going crazy," she said.
However, Ms Wagner said Fritzl regrets his treatment of his daughter. Elisabeth disappeared in 1984 aged 18, and did not appear again until April 26, 2008. She was kept prisoner under the family home in Amstetten in Lower Austria. Fritzl fathered seven children with her.
Ms Wagner said: "He says he has nightmares and wakes up in the middle of the night. He's not a monster, he's still human. He committed terrible acts for years, became delirious, and says himself that he was overwhelmed by his sexual drive. But he regrets his actions - very sincerely in my opinion. Of course he often represses his great, great guilt, otherwise he wouldn't be able to continue living."
Fritzl was arrested in 2008 on suspicion of rape, false imprisonment and manslaughter by negligence after taking Kerstin, Elisabeth's eldest daughter, to hospital. In March 2009, he pleaded guilty to all counts and was sentenced to live imprisonment. Under the terms of his sentence, Fritzl will be eligible for parole this year.
