Cyprus police seize 126kg of ketamine and arrest four suspects
Cypriot police said they seized over 126 kilograms of ketamine and arrested four suspects during a coordinated raid on two residences in Limassol.
Greek media claims hat the operation netted two couples—one Israeli and one Palestinian. The Limassol District Court subsequently ordered all four individuals remanded in custody for eight days as officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (YKAN) continued with the investigation.
According to official police reports, officers conducted two days of surveillance before executing search warrants on the properties. At one residence, officers discovered 126.6 kilograms of ketamine, precision scales, and mobile phones. A search at the second residence yielded smaller quantities of cocaine, ketamine, mephedrone, and MDMA, alongside untaxed cigarettes and cash in euros, U.S. dollars, and Israeli shekels.
Kathimerini reported that police initially announced the seizure as cocaine on September 12 before confirming the following day that the primary drug was ketamine. Investigators believe the alleged criminal group smuggled the narcotics from Israel to Cyprus aboard luxury boats docking at ports in Larnaca and Limassol. The drugs were allegedly concealed as construction materials and sanitary supplies before being moved to residential homes for storage. Defense attorneys did not object to the police’s eight-day detention request.
