Content creator Sir Yacht, also known as Joey Kinsley, has sparked a new trend - the hot dog diet.

The Cleveland, Ohio, based creator recently embarked on a week-long challenge to eat "nothing but the Costco hot dog meal for one week."

Kinsley said he ate the Costco-exclusive diet "to see if paying $1.50 (1.17 GBP) for a glizzy and drink was worth it." Spoiler: It "absof**kinglutely" was.

He recorded his food adventure and posted it on TikTok, where it immediately went viral, gaining hundreds of thousands of likes quickly.

Kinsley thanked Tums and Pepto for "saving" him during his unique dietary experiment. He bragged that he spent a grand total of $43 on food the entire week. While it may not be healthy - it's sure budget-friendly, and after all, that's what Costco is for.

"What I'm really gonna miss most is not just consuming glizzies, but spending only $1.50 on a meal," he told PEOPLE in an interview. "That's something that's completely unheard of in 2024."

The social media star also turned his hot dog diet into a social event, with friends joining him for some meals. They even "cheers"-ed hotdogs.

He also praised the staff at the Ohio Costco stores he visited. "And whoever prepared the glizzies, I can't thank you enough for making me a happy camper," he added.

Kinsley revealed that he shed 4.2 lbs after munching on hot dogs for a week, joking in his video: "I also might have started a new diet trend. Or I have a giant tapeworm."

However, he warned PEOPLE that he's "not a nutritionist and doesn't recommend anyone doing this. I also walked 10-15 miles a day, drank a gallon of water a day and took daily vitamins that may or may not have been the Flintstone dinosaur ones."

Costco's combo meal - a beef hot dog and soda - has remained a favourite among members over the years. Despite rising costs, Costco pledged to keep the snack under two quid in 2022.

Costco CFO Richard Galanti said during a presentation that they're not trying to fill in the gaps potentially left by the inexpensive meal. "We really don't look at it that way," he explained on the call, as reported by MarketWatch.

He added that other areas like the petrol and travel side of the business do well enough to help them "be more aggressive" in other parts of the store. "Or ... hold the price on the hot dog and the soda a little longer - forever," he said.
