David Beckham cheekily teased his wife Victoria following a posh dinner at the Ritz in London, referencing claims she made in their recent Netflix series that she had a humble upbringing.

The fashion designer and former pop star had claimed she came from a modest background, much to David's amusement who looked perplexed by the notion. Victoria, also known as 'Posh Spice', is actually the daughter of an electronics wholesale tycoon and was often driven to school in a Rolls Royce by her dad.

Her claims of a 'working class' upbringing left David chuckling on their Netflix show, leading to some awkward moments for Victoria. The teasing continued during a New Year's Eve lunch with Victoria's parents at one of London's swankiest hotels as the ex-Manchester United star made fun of his wife once more.

David simply couldn't resist another playful dig at his wife on Instagram, posting a snap of the couple dining with Victoria's parents and making another joke about her 'working class' claims.

The caption poked fun at fashion designer Victoria Beckham's previous claims about her working-class upbringing, in an amusing post reading: "Just a nice casual New Year's Eve lunch at The Ritz @victoriabeckham. Very working class. My mother and father in law left in there Roll's [Royce]."

Viewers were tickled by the banter between the couple during the 'Beckham' docuseries on Netflix, when David chimed in as Victoria was comparing their childhoods. Both have been basking in fame and fortune for nearly three decades, with Victoria becoming a household name as a Spice Girl and David being one of football's most recognisable faces.

In the four-part series, she told the interviewer: "Both of our parents worked really hard," before making an assertion that clearly made her ex-LA Galaxy star spouse see the funny side as she continued, before adding something that made her ex-LA Galaxy star husband chuckle: "We're very, very working class."

The football legend couldn't help but join in the fun as he surprised his unsuspecting wife by popping his head in as the interview was still underway. Poking his head around the corner and sporting a grin, he retorted: "Be honest," before asking, "What car did your dad drive you to school in?"

Despite her husband's playful challenge, she stood her ground, answering, "It's not a simple answer it depends," but he kept on asking as he refused to give in to his wife's assertions. In the end, she gave in and confessed, making the revelation: "OK, in the Eighties, my dad had a Rolls-Royce."
