Home Alone (1990)

Classic quotes such as: "Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animals," and many other insane hijinks leave this iconic festive flick on many must-watch lists. the movie was a young Macaulay Culkin's breakout role and spawned various sequels. The plot revolves around young Kevin McCallister (Macaulay) as he defends his house from thieves (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) after being accidentally left home while his family traveled to France for Christmas.

Elf (2003)

However, he realises something is off and journeys to New York City to find his birth father (James Caan). Other members of the star-studded cast included Zooey Deschanel, Mary Steenburgen, and Peter Dinklage.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

Jim Carrey plays the titular character and underwent training on how to resist torture as he said that putting on the make-up and costume felt like he was being buried alive. The flick is based on the children's book by Dr. Seuss, and the 1966 TV movie of the same name, How The Grinch Stole Christmas is a live-action retelling of the classic story.

A Christmas Carol (2009)

Jim Carrey makes it onto the list again in another book-inspired film. Based on Charles Dickens' classic, this animated Disney film takes viewers on a journey as Ebenezer Scrooge is shown the true meaning of Christmas and being kind to others by Christmas ghosts. All three ghosts and Scrooge were voiced by Jim. Gary Oldman and Colin Firth also provided their voices to some roles.

The Santa Clause (1994)

Tim Allen starred as Scott Calvin, a man who becomes Santa Claus after accidentally scaring him, leading the big man to fall from the roof. Families can still enjoy the classic film and its two film sequels which were also made - The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006).

Love Actually (2003)

The film follows various stories where all the characters are interwoven in some way. Iconic scenes include Mark professing his love to Juliet on cue cards and Karen opening up a Joni Mitchell CD from her husband as she realises he brought a necklace for another woman.
