Donny van de Beek is nearing another Manchester United exit as Frankfurt boss Markus Krosche has admitted he is "very confident" the Dutchman ends up at the German outfit.

The Netherlands international arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2020 for a fee of £40million following some sensational displays for Ajax, but failed to really get a fair crack of the whip under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Things followed a simlar pattern under interim boss Ralf Rangnick, but when Erik ten Hag arrived, many felt the tide could turn for Van de Beek.

The midfielder played under Ten Hag at Ajax, but the arrival of his former boss did nothing for his own United fortunes. Since Ten Hag took the reins at Old Trafford, Van de Beek has made just eight league appearances. This season he has managed just 21 minutes of action across all competitions.

As a result, Van de Beek has opted to seek a new challenge elsewhere and his latest chapter appears most likely to come at Frankfurt. Speaking to the Kicker, manager of the club Krosche issued a promising update regarding the United midfielder.

"I'm very confident that Donny will be with us for the next six months. We still need quality across the board. We need experience, we are a very young team. Donny can certainly help us with that."

The deal will initially come in the form of a loan, but the German club do have the option to purchase Van de Beek for a fee of £13m come the end of the campaign. There is every chance the 26-year-old remains at Frankfurt, given the writing is on the wall for him at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag was asked for an update on his ex-Ajax star earlier this month and conceded Van de Beek's career would be best served elsewhere. "I think Donny has to play," the United boss told reporters. "In games he was in the squad, so he had the opportunity.

"It was a slow start to the season because he was still recovering from physical setbacks. But he is back now and he is doing really well in training, so if you can’t give him perspective then I can see he has to play for his career and for everything."

Van de Beek has already left United on loan once before, joining Everton in January of last year. However, his time in the blue half of Merseyside was uneventful and left the midfielder in a difficult position of being unwanted by both the Toffees and parent club United.
