'Mind-blowing' abandoned £10million mansion found kitted out in 1960s glamour

An urban explorer has discovered a luxurious $12million (£9.9million) mansion - all kitted out in 1960s glamour and completely abandoned.

His photos show brightly coloured rooms, vibrant doorframes and swirly staircases, all reminiscent of the 60s.

Urban exploration photographer and filmmaker Dave of Freaktography.com, from Northern Ontario, Canada, captured the "mind-blowing" images.

The mansion - which sits on four acres of land - was home to a wealthy elderly couple who made their fortune in natural resource mining and staked claims in Northern Ontario and Quebec in the 1950s.

The pair then went on to have success in the development of copper, nickel and gold properties in the 60s and 70s.

Tragically, the couple died in 2015 and 2020, leaving the house behind to decay.

Now, the home is set to be demolished after it was purchased for the land.

But before the property is set to meet its fate, Dave captured the nooks and crannies of the place, which was built in the 1960s.

The home was fitted with what would have been modern and high-end décor, with bright coloured patterns on the walls and furniture, brown floral wallpaper and dated kitchen equipment.

No room follows the same pattern, each takin on a different aspect of the 1960s, 70s and 80s aesthetics.

And the images the urban explorer captured do the property justice.

One image shows brightly coloured circular patterns adorning a blue, yellow and red room, one of which forms a 3D seat in the wall.

And another shows an ornate golden fireplace in what looks like a large wooden library.

Speaking out about the incredible find, Dave said: “This was a mind-blowing mansion.

“There are old intercom systems all over the house. It’s an old house so the intercoms were old.

“The whole room is designed and built in that style, red and blue with these funky little designs and shapes over the walls.

“Every single room in this house is different. Every room has a different style, a different look, a different colour scheme.

“It’s very ross, very brown and very dusty but the contrast is interesting as some rooms have colourful patterns, like tulips."

He added: “There was a really interesting looking room, there was a brown material like leather, on the walls and a really unique shaped set of stairs that curved down.

"There were some African-themed decorations on some of the walls.

“There was not much left over, not much left behind.

“It was a really interesting house with all the different wallpaper, different styles, different elements, different inspirations from different countries and different decades.”
