UFC star Paddy Pimblett responds to Dillon Danis after fight call-out

UFC star Paddy Pimblett has welcomed a fight with Conor McGregor's longtime partner Dillon Danis.

'The Baddy' is making his UFC return this Saturday at the final pay-per-view event of the year against Tony Ferguson having not fought since controversially beating Jared Gordon last December. Pimblett suffered an ankle injury in the opening round of the fight but won on points in "one of the worst UFC decisions ever".

Danis has been calling for UFC boss Dana White to sign him to the promotion after his boxing match against Logan Paul in October. "My UFC debut against Paddy Pimblett would be quite the show, the buildup alone would be electric! If we want to add some fun, we could be coaches on The Ultimate Fighter and have our fight at the end. Imagine the entertainment that would generate. Let's give the people what they want and make fighting entertaining again," Danis tweeted.

Pimblett responded to Danis' call-out by telling reporters including Mirror Fighting: "If he gets signed lad, let's do it. He fought Logan Paul and threw anybody six punches. He threw more punches at the security guards then he did at Logan." Danis was disqualified in his fight against Paul for trying to choke out the YouTuber, leading to a massive brawl breaking out in the ring.

UFC boss White didn't give a convincing answer when he was asked about the possibility of signing Danis. to the promotion "I don't know, I haven't even actually thought about that,” he said. Danis hasn’t competed in MMA in over five years but has repeatedly tagged White in social media posts to try and secure a move to the UFC.

Pimblett is looking to pick up his fifth consecutive UFC win on Saturday against Ferguson, who hasn't won a fight in over four years. The former interim world champion has been stopped in four of his past six fights and Pimblett thinks his fight against the 39-year-old is a lose-lose situation.

"It's an honour to be able to fight Tony, he's one of the best lightweights of all time," he added. "When I was a kid watching the UFC at around 15, I'd just started training and he was already in the UFC. It's like that cliche saying 'When your heroes become your rivals'. Even I want to see Tony go out on a win but I can't do it at my expense, not happening."
