While being honoured with a story on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Zac Efron took a moment to reflect on the late Matthew Perry.

As part of the ceremony, the High School Musical actor was given the opportunity to give an acceptance speech. He talked about working with Matthew while filming 17 Again, saying he was "so kind and generous with me". In fact, Zac believes that working with Matthew and Burr Steers had a major impact on his life, 'propelling and motivating him.'

He said: "It really pushed me into the next chapter of my career, and for that, thank you so much, Matthew. Thinking about you a lot today.” This isn't the first time that Zac made a nod to his late friend.

After Matthew's passing, Zac was presented with the idea of playing Matthew in a biopic. As it turns out, that idea was something Matthew was reportedly considering. "I'm honoured to hear he was thinking of me to play him," Zac previously told PEOPLE. "We'll see. I'd be honoured to do it."

Zac didn't rule out tackling the role in the future and also said Matthew was a mentor to him. He told the publication: "I looked up to him, I learned comedic timing from that guy. I mean, when we were filming 17 Again, it was so surreal for me to look across and have him be there, because I've learned so much from him, from his whole life."

Also during the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, some beloved actors spoke about Zac's talent and accolades, signing his praise. His friend Miles Teller admitted that Zac was the first breakout star of their generation of actors. Zac's The Iron Claw co-star Jeremy Allen White and director Sean Dirkin also made an appearance at the event.
