Linda Nolan gushes over 'early Christmas gift' in cancer update amid treatment
Linda Nolan has shared some "amazing" news about her cancer treatment, describing it as an "early Christmas present".
The Nolan Sisters singer, 64, was diagnosed with cancer 20 years ago and has had incurable secondary breast cancer since 2017. She announced in March that the disease had spread to her brain, leading her to lose her hair for the fourth time in her life. She was also left unable to balance properly, meaning she needs to use a wheelchair.
But amid her treatment plan, she shared some amazing news on Good Morning Britain today. She revealed: "It's amazing… When we went in, I knew straight away that it was good news by the look on my consultants face.
"He said that the scans were good – the MRI and the CT scan – and that there is shrinkage with the tumours. I wanted to put my arms around him and kiss him but I thought they might throw me out."
When asked if the news was like an early Christmas present, she said "absolutely", adding: "I didn’t think I'd make Christmas. I was hoping to make the birth of my nephew, who was born at the end of July, and then I was thinking, 'How many more milestones will I make?'
Richard 'shuts up' GMB guest who says Hancock 'deserved' being called 'd***head'"And at the moment, I feel good. I've got a little bit of pain but I was walking about yesterday; we went to the beautiful garden centre and I was having a walk around to keep moving. They said, 'Don't sit down all the time or nothing will work', and I just looked and thought, 'How lucky I am.'
"After nine months and getting the worst possible news, having a great time with my sisters and now it's all excitement for Christmas." She said her sisters, Loose Women panellist Coleen, Maureen and Anne - who she was in pop group The Nolans with - are everything to her.
Linda explained: "I wake up and think, 'Oh, another day to make memories'. I don't wake up thinking, 'It's another day closer', and that helps me. Sometimes I have to drag myself out of bed because lying there… just makes it worse… dip down into a depression."
Mirror columnist Linda wrote about her treatment this week, expressing how happy she was to have another Christmas with her family. After meeting with her consultant to get the results of her tests, Linda was delighted to hear the tumours had shrunk.
She said she was advised to keep "using her mind", explaining: "By which he meant, do more crosswords. I can combat this with three down, five across. So that's what I’ll do. And just get on and enjoy. We've two Christmas trees up and I'm ready for a knees-up. It’s going to be a big Christmas, with absolutely no shrinkage at all."
