If Juventus' attempts to sign Jadon Sancho are reliant on the Italian club finding funds from elsewhere, the sale of Samuel Iling-Junior to Tottenham could well set some transfer dominoes in motion.

Manchester United star Sancho remains sidelined by his club, having not played since August after a very public falling-out with manager Erik ten Hag. Juventus are among the clubs mentioned in connection with the 23-year-old, along with his former club Borussia Dortmund and Saudi outfit Al-Ettifaq, but his high wages could prove a stumbling block.

Sancho's wages of around £17.4m appear to be the biggest obstacle to a loan deal, and it is unclear to what extent United themselves would want to subsidise the winger while he plays away from Old Trafford. Coincidentally, the amount Juve are said to want for Iling-Junior comes in just below that mark.

According to Calciomercato (via Football Italia), Juve are prepared to accept a fee in the region of £15.5m for England under-21 man Iling-Junior. The former Chelsea youngster scored his first senior goal for the club last season but has made just four Serie A appearances this term.

If Spurs are to try their luck with Iling-Junior, it would not be the first time they have turned their attention to Juventus players. The London side completed a double swoop for Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski in January 2022, with the two Antonio Conte signings remaining in the picture under Ange Postecoglou.

The same Calciomercato report indicates the Bianconeri are keen to raise funds for midfield reinforcements. However, the Sancho links are also not going away.

Sancho, a £73m signing from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, last played for United in their August 26 victory over Nottingham Forest. He fired back at manager Erik ten Hag after the manager left him out of the squad to face Arsenal the following week, and has since been banished from first-team activities.

Ten Hag remains keen to offload the winger, who has been training alone during his exile. However, United are understood to still be holding out for £50m for a man whose peak years could well still be ahead of him.

"Strict lines is the point," Ten Hag said in September. "It's what the club asked me to do, because there was no good culture before last season. So to set some good standards and that is what I did.

"That is my job, to control the standards. It has never been when someone makes one mistake, it is a whole process before you come to a certain outcome about strict lines. If staff, players or whoever, if there is a structure to cross lines you have to be strong, absolutely."
