Heinz has apologised to customers after discontinuing one of its popular tomato soup products.

One soup fan took to social media to ask the food company what had happened to their favourite Heinz product - the Cream of Tomato Soup with a kick of chill. The user asked Heinz on X - formerly Twitter - whether they had axed the canned product as they had heard rumours it had gone.

The post read: "Hey, @HeinzUK just heard you guys are discontinuing the Cream of Tomato soup with a hint of Chilli. Guys, come on, it's my favourite soup. I bet you have loads in a warehouse somewhere, if it's all getting chucked can you at least send me a crate? Be a mate."

Sadly, Heinz responded confirming the devastating news that they had indeed stopped making the kick of chilli tomato soup cans and that there sadly were no spare cans knocking about to send over. The Heinz post read: "It's sad when a favourite disappears, we will pass on your comments to our Team. Sorry, we do not have any left."

The Heinz Cream of Tomato Soup with a hint of chilli simply offers the original cream of tomato soup recipe with an added kick of chilli. Which Heinz would "give your taste buds something to sing about.". Its full description added: "An exciting twist to our famous and much-loved soup".

The X user accepted the news but jokingly asked the whether food manufacturer could let them know the "monster who made this decision". They said: "Let me know if whatever monster who made this decision comes to its senses and my soup makes a comeback. It'd do a lot to mend this rift that's grown between us."

The confirmation of the discontinuation comes after Heinz axed its Veg Hoops. This cupboard essential for parents consisted of pasta hoops made from carrot and cauliflower, served in a tomato and sweet potato sauce.

The last few weeks can certainly be considered a turbulent time for the British food world. Earlier this month Cadbury's confirmed that it had axed its Caramac chocolate bar after 64 years. Alongside this Walkers recently confirmed it had pulled its iconic Beef and Onion flavour and its Max Flamin' Hot crisps from sale.
