One Christmas advert has left viewers in tears after it highlighted the most Christmassy message of all - it's important to be kind.

The video, which serves as an advertisement for Charlie's Bar in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, where there are 'no strangers, just friends you haven't met yet' sees an old man leaving his home with a bunch of flowers. Tragically, he takes his cap off as a mark of respect as he arrives at the grave of a loved one he has lost and places the flowers down on the grave while shaking his head in thought, all to the beautiful soundtrack 'People Help The People' by Birdy.

Later, after the graveside visit, the old man walks down the busy high street while hustle and bustle occurs around him. Young women are chatting and laughing, but ignore him, while another man who is holding his paper up higher to avoid making conversation with him - and the old man seems dejected.

But then there's a glimmer of hope as a young couple with a dog walks up to a bar, and they gesture to let the old man walk in first. The video then pans to the cosy interior of Charlie's Bar, and the man can be seen sitting at a table as a pint of Guinness is delivered to him. Meanwhile, the couple are seated up at the bar, when suddenly, their pooch takes an interest in the man, and he subsequently moves up so the dog can jump up to be seated next to him.

In the next few seconds, there's a heartwarming scene of the man feeling accepted and seen by the dog as he eagerly strokes him, enjoying the company. The man from the couple then points at the dog to draw his partner's attention to the fact the dog has made a friend, and viewers will have been holding their breath hoping for a happy ending for the old man. And it happens, as the couple go to sit with the old man, and they cosy up while having a lovely chat.

As viewers wiped away tears, they took to social media to share their thoughts. India Willoughby wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Best Christmas advert you'll see. For a small pub in Ireland. Crying. Whoever scripted/produced it should get a prize."

"I'm crying too, but I loved the ending", someone else added, with another penning: "Lovely advert, how wonderful are dogs? Nothing but kindness in them."

On Instagram, people spoke of how important it is to help those who may be lonely this Christmas, writing: "Me who is absolutely not a crier definitely cried at this. The elderly are my absolute soft spot. Christmas is a really hard day for many, so it's important to check in on those who are alone. Especially if they had a bereavement this year."

"Wow beautifully done and such an amazing message. Bravo", a social media user praised, as another gushed: "Fabulous and what a message reminding people to wake up, be aware of people in their surroundings...a big hello & smile can make someone's day and do not be afraid to make small talk with strangers...especially our older generation."

Another said: "A 55-year-old man just shed a tear. We are all guilty of being too busy or in a hurry. Well done Charlie's Bar, I'll be dropping in for a pint."
