The PS5 Slim is finally available for pre-order in the UK and Europe with a page on PlayStation Direct launching earlier today.

The PS5 Slim was officially announced last month with pre-orders for the new version of the system becoming available almost instantly in the US. This new version of the PS5 features a detachable disc drive and a larger 1TB storage capacity, but otherwise, it's pretty much the same system as the regular version.

Well-known PlayStation leaker Billbil_kun (known for leaking PS Plus every month) teased the release of PS5 Slim pre-orders for Europe earlier this week in a post on Dealabs (translated via Google Translate). Now, Sony has officially launched PS5 slim pre-orders in the UK and Europe today on PlayStation Direct.

According to the PlayStation Direct store page for the console, it'll be in your hands as early as next week, with the listed PS5 Slim release date being Wednesday, November 29. However, don't get too excited over the prospect of more storage space on your TV unit or desk as teardowns revealed the new console isn't that much smaller than the original.

Slim when you're winning

The PS5 Slim is confirmed to be replacing the original PS5 model, so eventually regular PS5 consoles will be a thing of the past and the PS5 Slim will be the only model available. So with that being said we wouldn't expect stock of the PS5 Slim to be limited – at least not any more than the normal PS5 is. If you're expecting a more powerful system, the PS5 Slim isn't worth the upgrade, you'll need to wait and see if a potential PS5 Pro ever comes to fruition.

However, if it's anything like when the PS4 Slim that released back in 2016, retailers may be heavily discounting the original PS5 to get rid of excess stock, so now may actually be the best time to pick up an original PS5. The only downside is the slightly smaller storage space, but you should be able to afford a solid SSD if the savings are as good as they were back when this happened to the PS4.
