10 extra PSVR 2 games are set to hit the PlayStation Store soon as part of the headset’s highly anticipated launch, bringing the total number of titles to a not insignificant 49.

PSVR 2 purchasers will be treated to 10 extra titles during the headset's launch window to help fill out the otherwise rather barren lineup. We were previously looking at just over 30 PSVR 2 games including the likes of Horizon Call of the Mountain, which has quite rightly been shown off as PSVR 2’s marquee launch title. The 10 newly announced titles detailed on the PlayStation Blog aren't quite as high-profile, but it's an eclectic mix to be sure.

The 10 new PSVR 2 games will let players step into the shoes of everything from a sushi restaurant owner to a viking. Not everything in the lineup is a PlayStation exclusive, with titles like Unplugged: Air Guitar, and Swordsman VR already available to play on other VR platforms like Meta Quest. Still, anything to flesh out the PSVR 2 games library should be welcomed by players. Previously it stood at over 30, but now it stands at closer to 50.

Of the 10 extra titles, Startenders: Intergalactic Bartending, and Swordsman VR both offer a free upgrade to the PSVR 2 version for players who already own the games on the original PSVR headset. Although it's worth noting that the upgrade period is limited to the first three months post-launch for Swordsman VR.

Here’s a full list of the 10 games revealed; only four made it in time for launch, with one coming in March, and the rest getting a vague 2023 window:

PSVR 2 games are a little lighter side right now. This is expected early on in a new piece of hardware’s lifecycle, true, but I’ve struggled to get properly excited ever since I found out that original PSVR games wouldn’t be supported. However, props to Sony for trying to guarantee at least some degree of support for the rest of this year.

The PSVR 2 arrives at a rough time. The VR experience still feels like a luxury way to play and with prices rising elsewhere, it’s a tough sell right now. What I’d need to get me over the line is the announcement of another high-profile PlayStation exclusive that can’t be played anywhere else, but as it stands only Horizon Call of the Mountain fits that template. I’m not sure that one game is enough to buy into a new platform – especially given its price tag. Be sure to check out our PSVR 2 review for more pros and cons of the headset.
