Fern Britton burst into tears upon paying a visit to her childhood home, which had caused her to revisit memories from when she was a young child.

The former This Morning host, 65, was being filmed for the new Channel 5 series No Place Like Home.

She set off to revisit the Buckinghamshire house she lived in when she was just five years old.

However, Fern soon became emotional as she entered the property, which is located in Chalfont St Peter.

She could be seen walking into her childhood bedroom, realising how much the room had changed since she had lived there.

Looking around the place she had grown up, Fern said: "And this was my room.

"I didn't know what was going on in the family at that stage."

The presenter went on to expand about the kind of family life she experienced when she lived at the property.

She continued: "I just knew that it was me and my mum and my sister here and that my father didn't live here.

"It was odd. In those days, people didn't tell you things."

Fern became emotional as she went on to speak about her mother, Ruth.

She said: "My mother was, as you could imagine, everything. She was mother and father to me which is why I can tell you lots of stories about her."

She then started to cry as she spoke about the childhood memories she had of her mother.

However, some viewers were quick to call the new series “dry” from Fern’s interview.

One person wrote: "This obviously means a lot to #Fern . . . To everyone else - not so much . . . Zzzz #LooseWomen ". Yvonne said. Another said: "Nothing against Fern Britton but that new tv show looks dry #LooseWomen ."
