A second McDonald's branch has been targeted in what appears to be another pro-Palestine protest involving a horde of mice.

Footage shows the rodents scurrying about on the floor of the fast food joint in Birmingham on Tuesday as staff try frantically to trap them under a plastic box. An apparent bystander filmed the chaos, claiming somebody had "dropped off" the creatures at the restaurant in protest over the bombing of Gaza.

It comes a day after a similar bizarre stunt pulled at another McDonald's branch in the city, where mice painted with Palestine flags were set loose as the perpetrator yelled, "f*** Israel". While the exact branches where each incident took place have yet to be confirmed, both were separate attacks due to the noticeably different layout.

The person filming Tuesday's incident can be heard saying: "Look at this. They've just dropped these off in McDonald's. All these rats in McDonald's." The person filming then flips the camera to show four frantic McDonald's staff scrambling to contain the rodents beneath a box.

One member of staff can be seen holding a broom while looking on in shock as the mice run amok whilst another tries to slide a plastic bag beneath the box to contain the creatures. A child can then be heard saying, "that is a lot of rats" as the man filming continues to react in shock, adding, "look at that".

In Monday's incident, customers ran screaming from the restaurant as an activist unleashed the creatures whilst people were eating. The unidentified person appearing to wear the colours of the Palestinian flag on his head as he set the mice free, captioning the clip, "enjoy your rat burgers".

In a statement to LBC a McDonald's spokesperson said: "We are aware of an incident in our Birmingham Star City restaurant this evening where a number of mice were released by a member of the public. Following the removal of the mice, the restaurant has been fully sanitised and our pest control partners have been called out to conduct a full inspection."

West Midlands Police said in a statement: "We're investigating after live rodents were thrown into a restaurant off Watson Road, Nechells, at around 5.30pm yesterday (30 October). We understand the distress this will have caused and it's not acceptable in any circumstances. This is currently being treated as a public nuisance offence and we've active lines of enquiries to identify, and then arrest, who was involved. Anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website, or by calling 101, and quote log 3847 of 30/10/23."
