McDonald's is giving away free hot drinks today only - but there's a catch

McDonald's is giving away free hot drinks this morning as well as a discounted menu favourite throughout the day - but only through its app.

The popular fast food chain is giving away a free McCafé hot drink when you buy a bacon roll.

To claim the free hot drink, you'll need to download the free My McDonald's app and click on the free hot drinks offer on the deals page.

Once this is added to your order you can choose which McDonald's you would like to pick your meal up from and then you choose which payment card you'd like to use when you arrive.

This offer will run until the breakfast menu ends at 11am, so you need to be quick in claiming.

For those who are not early risers, the fast food chain has also cut the price of its Fillet-O-Fish burger when you buy through the McDonald's app.

For today only, those wanting the popular menu item can get it for just £1.39. McDonald's says this will make you a saving of £2.70.

For those signing up to the McDonald's app to take advantage of this offer, you will also be able to earn points by purchasing the deals today by opting into MyMcDonald’s Rewards.

The McDonald's reward scheme is similar to a loyalty card and customers can earn points from spending at Mcdonald's.

The scheme means every penny spent equals one Rewards point, so this week’s offers will get you 339 points when grabbing a bacon roll and 139 points when picking up a Filet-O-Fish.

Once you have enough points, you can then claim menu items for absolutely free.

When you reach 1,500 points, you can choose between menu items including small Fries, a Hash Brown, or a Side Salad.

With 2,500 points, a Double Cheeseburger or Vegetable Deluxe is on the cards.

Finally, with 4,000 points, you can choose between menu favourites like six Chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac.

You can download the McDonald's app through Google Play or the Apple App Store and you can start earning rewards by signing up and opting into MyMcDonald’s Rewards.
