A teacher was left vomiting and with bruises after allegedly being injected at a nightclub in a suspected spiking incident.

Chrissy Childerley, 31, had spent a day watching the Barbie film and having a meal with her partner and mother-in-law, before going on a night out in Cambridge. She went clubbing at popular nightclub venue Vinyl and believes she was spiked while inside.

She said: "Two men came over to me. One started talking to me, while the other barged into me and then said: ‘Sorry, sorry’. I thought he was just drunk. They were bossy with me before they left, saying ‘You need to stay here’. They had just come back when my partner came out of the toilet, then they vanished.”

Chrissy has no recollection of the night after her partner returned. She believes she was injected by one of the men when he barged into her, and they were adamant she stay at the table because they were waiting for the substance to kick in.

She said: “The next day, when I woke up, my vision was blurry and I was throwing up black. I was being sick every 45 minutes and just moving in and out of sleep. My partner said I had passed out on the living room floor when we got back from the club so he carried me upstairs, where I threw up black vomit and passed out on the bed. I thought it could have just been the drink, but I don’t usually react like that. Then I saw the most horrendous bruising I have ever seen on my leg, along with a pinprick mark.”

Chrissy had been wearing shorts underneath her dress, which she believes the needle got caught on. She said she was in shock for two days and her son became ill, which is why she didn’t go to the police straight away. When she did go to them, it was too late for the urine and blood tests they asked her to get at the hospital to show what she had been injected with.

Chrissy says she is scared for other young people going out, and that she still doesn’t know what was put into her body. Cambridgeshire Police said: “An investigation was launched and enquiries were carried out, but there was not enough evidence to support a case. So, it has been filed pending any further information coming to light.”

A spokesperson from Vinyl said: “Guest safety is our priority. Our teams are fully trained on the issue and have the support of our onsite first aiders, we operate our ‘We Care’ policy and support the national ‘Ask for Angela’ scheme, and we offer free anti-spiking devices to all of our guests.

“We carry out searches of 100% of people on entry. We have extensive CCTV coverage throughout the venue and our security teams wear body cams. We always cooperate with the police and will hand over any footage on request.”
