Ravers will soon be able to party at the world's 'most remote' nightclub set on a beautiful Scottish island.

The Hebridean Isle of Coll is a boat's ride away from Oban and is the location of a new venue opening in September.

The island has been best known as a great place to see the stars and Northern Lights, and the location of sweeping sandy beaches that would look at home on a tourist brochure for a Caribbean idyll.

On September 22 and 23 hundreds of people will descend on Coll for a two day event organised by pop-up promoters Detour Discotheque in An Cridhe, Coll's community centre.

The first wave of tickets to an event described as a 'journey into the cosmos' have already sold out, with demand for one of 250 available spots at the nightclub clearly high.

Among artists performing are bands and DJs such as Auntie Flo, Free Love, and the Cosmic Ceilidh Band, who will be taking the CalMac ferry from Oban across to Coll

Organiser Jonny Ensall told DJ Mag: "Detour Discotheque is back for another spellbinding weekend.

"The event is a wormhole that opens in unexpected places around planet Earth, and this year that cosmic phenomenon is happening on Coll – a tiny Scottish island famous for its star-filled skies."

As well as the main lineup and festival activities, there is plenty to keep you busy on Coll.

The weekly market at An Cridhe is a great place find cakes, crafts, cards, clothing, prints and other little trinkets for loved ones who couldn't make the trip.

There will be a special edition of the market with a disco soundtrack taking lace on Saturday, 23 September.

Immerse Hebrides offer guided swimming tours in wild locations around Scotland and will be overseeing a sea swimming session at 7.30pm on the same day.

The cost is £10 per person which includes transport to the beach for limited numbers.

Husband and wife team Greg and Sarah run WildSmiths, offering guided walks around the beautiful Coll landscape, starting from various locations including Arinagour village.

The couple introduce you to rare flora and fauna; otters and sea eagles; twayblades and marsh orchids; as well as bottlenose and common dolphins.

The Isle of Coll distillery makes award-winning gin infused with the flavours of Coll including heather, bog myrtle and sea kelp, and it is open for tours and tastings.

The Detour Disco website states: "The original 'cosmic discos' of the 70s and 80s married the deep percussion of African and Latin music with the spage-age synths of Italo Disco. The Isle of Coll is an official 'dark-sky' island, and the perfect location to revive the cosmic spirit at an out of this world discotheque."

Islanders will have discounted tickets available to them while general release costs £95 on the Detour Discotheque official site.
