David de Gea has been reunited with former Manchester United team-mate Bruno Fernandes after the duo were pictured wearing Rebel Gaming t-shirts.

De Gea, 32, departed the Red Devils in July after 12 years at Old Trafford. The Spaniard failed to agree terms on a new deal and left upon the expiry of his £375,000 contract, having made 545 appearances for the club following his move from Atletico Madrid back in 2011.

De Gea was a popular figure in the dressing room and some United players were furious with the way the goalkeeper was treated by the club. He won the Golden Glove last season and his replacement, Andre Onana, has struggled since joining from Inter Milan.

But four months since his United exit, De Gea has been back with one of his ex-United colleagues in Fernandes. In a post on Instagram, the pair were pictured in Rebel Gaming t-shirts, followed by the caption of "together again". Rebel Gaming are an Esports team founded by De Gea.

De Gea is still a free agent since leaving the Red Devils. It was reported last month that De Gea is considering a shock retirement if he does not receive a proposal to become first-choice at a 'major' club. He has rejected several offers and was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in the summer.

Speaking after leaving United, De Gea said: "I just wanted to send this farewell message to all Manchester United supporters. I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love for the last 12 years. We've achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club.

"I took incredible pride every time I pulled on this shirt, to lead the team, to represent this institution, the biggest club in the world was an honour only bestowed upon a few lucky footballers.

"It's been an unforgettable and successful period since I came here. I didn’t think from leaving Madrid as a young boy we would achieve what we did together. Now, it’s the right time to undertake a new challenge, to push myself again in new surroundings. Manchester will always be in my heart, Manchester has shaped me and will never leave me. We’ve seen it all."
