Dilon Danis has vowed to appeal his defeat by Logan Paul on Saturday night following a bout which essentially ridiculed the sport of boxing.

The former MMA fighter had repeatedly insulted the YouTuber amid a volatile build-up, regularly sharing photos of Paul's fiancee Nina Agdal with former partners or scantily clad. The 30-year-old was duly served with a lawsuit because of his behaviour, but still vowed to take out Paul at the Manchester Arena.

Instead, Danis proverbially stunk the place out, barely laying a glove on his rival in the opening five rounds. And when all seemed lost in the sixth, he seemingly tried to take his opponent down with a move more accustomed to Greco-Roman wrestling, and was disqualified when he followed that up with an illegal choke.

The subsequent brawl that broke out appeared a fitting end to the farcical showing, with members of both camps flooding into the ring to get involved. Eventually, security guards diffused the melee, with Paul then awarded the verdict - but denied what seemed an inevitable unanimous decision.

But now a potential ray of light has emerged for desperate Danis. On Sunday, the @IfnBoxing social media account posted footage of an incident from earlier in what proved the final round, when the referee was forced to intervene with Danis holding onto his opponent.

And it came with the caption: "A member of Logan Paul's Security ENTERED the Ring EARLY Round 6, should Logan be disqualified." Indeed, at one point a man from the corner of the 28-year-old clearly steps through the ropes before heading back to the outside of the ring.

And the post hasn't escaped the attentions of Danis. The American reposted the video and wrote: "There was multiple offences. I’ll be submitting my appeal to the commission today."

However, the vow is likely to be widely viewed as Danis trying to salvage his already ruined boxing reputation following his maiden professional fight. On the same day, Paul posted: "I think Dillion perfectly embodies the problem with society. All s*** talk behind a screen. No action. Just another peasant running his mouth contributing nothing to this world but negativity. So happy I got to expose this clown."

The bout served as the co-main event on the X Series 10 – The Prime Card show. In the other headline bout, Tommy Fury was handed a dubious split decision over KSI, which has since been revised to a unanimous decision, in a fight which is now also likely to the subject of an appeal.
